Decent Journalism

[QUOTE=“Rocko, post: 1148401, member: 1”]This is from a few years back but I only came across it recently. A cracking read on James Corden:

Ex-footballers with nothing better to do squeezed onto the sofa with sort-of celebs like Denise van Outen and Pixie Lott, the kind of people no one really cares about, without whom no TV show is commissioned (“Have you been watching the World Cup, Pixie?” probed our fearless host. “Well, I saw the England game,” giggled the vacant Lott).

Have to applaud that line

Decent article by David Quinn.

Mad article this one, great read. The guy is clearly nutters, not sure what to make of him.

And an excellent one from Sebastian Junger about PTSD - he’s the guy who made the very good Restrepo. He’s a very good writer also.

Moran comes across well in that - old school but a refreshing change from the whining, moaning and self pity that goes on today.

Bumped for @Fitzy

Excellent (lengthy) article here on the death penalty in Louisiana and a particular case. The case itself is interesting but the assistant DA (and how a man like that is successful in the US) is fascinating. Using Jesus and Judas in a court argument is just absurd.

I don’t believe an assistant DA in his sixties would be classified as successful @Rocko

Ok, important then. He gets to kill people.

No he doesn’t. He prosecutes.

I didn’t think the article was any great shakes either

Technically that’s the jury’s call.

Actually, its the prison guards who do the killing. The jury only decides the death penalty

Fuck off with your rolleyes.

You’ve jumped the shark since we went onto the new site

Actually, in Louisiana it’s a medical technician who does the killing. The prison guards only restrain the inmate.

Informative.

I guess that ends the game of pedants

Very well written and researched piece on James McClean and “anthem disengagement”.

Now that’s a clamping.

Who wrote the piece and what paper/website published it, Stevie?
