It’s amazing how the whole Michelle Smith saga has been more or less whitewashed from Irish history. Almost like the country has collective Olympic amnesia.

I would have thought it’s the absolute opposite of whitewashed and she’s been completely blacklisted and the ‘achievement’ is given zero credit by almost anyone
It just isn’t discussed. Like an aunt who’s the black sheep of the family that nobody wants to talk to.
It’s discussed every single time they talk about great Irish sporting achievements. Well mentioned and then dismissed usually. It probably doesn’t get huge debate because almost everyone except Jimmy magee appears to be in agreement on it.
Wouldn’t agree. It might be briefly skirted upon in some discussion but it’s never spoken about in depth.

Olympic Sports are only every discussed really the fortnight the Olympics are on every 4 years (or 5).
