Kev, I have a theory that the malign influence of Rugby League, and the fact that most of the Wallaby backs are former / future NRL players, is pretty much buggering them up. They think they’re playing league and it has come as a bit of a shock to them that there are actually scrums in union.
Big time. Went through the reaction thread on green and gold rugby, the fcukers are plain deluded. They really do play and see the game differently. It’s as if there’s a separate rule book for that hemisphere. One lad reckons we were the ones infringing at the scrum, despite the fact that the Aussies haven’t had a decent prop since Eales was captain, and have been turned over time and again in world cups.

It seems they expected us to take them on in a sevens style throwabout. Perhaps they need a spectacle to counter rugby league, it seems teams that have a set piece game are ruining the product and stopping the Aussies from spreading the gospel.
Then there’s the usual nonsense about the ref, apparently they never win with him, a bit like poite and Munster. I thought he was equally bad for both sides, and acted as a spare defender for the Aussies on one occasion.

Seriously TE - you should hear some of the shit I’m getting here. The utter shock and surprise. The ref was shit, Ireland are boring, Ireland cheated, we can’t score tries and we can’t pass, we’re ruining the game, there’s no hope for the world. Delusion on an epic scale. “You didn’t watch the game then?” has become my stock standard reply.
