2011 Rugby World Cup

Nice touch.

Like the rest I think Oz are going to kick USA back door in. The US far better able to deal with a side like Ireland who will try to dominate up front. I think they are going to struggle with the pace of the Oz wide players big time tomorrow.

Iv backed Oz -59.5 at 1.92 on betfair. And -75.5 at 5s.

How do ye see this going in comparison to the South Africa game this morning?

It feels a bit like the opposite.
The Namibians tried hard for the first hour with their best team and ran out of steam after an hour, then the South African changes made the difference.
First Half tries: 4
Second Half tries: 8

The US guys are starting off with their second team.
What I’m wondering is whether Australia will blow them out the gate early and then possibly ease off?
When the US do go to their bench they are making their team better. That wasn’t the case this morning as Namibia had a mix of guys who were wrecked and inferior players.

87-0

Seriously, what are the likes of Namibia doing in this thing ?

The best thing was Peter de Villiers after the match declaring that Namibia did well and that “there are no minnows any more”.

You just won 87-0 bro.

There are no easy games in international rugby

Really like the look of AUS -59 tomorrow. That USA team wouldn’t beat an AIL side. As long as their is no rain AUS should win hanvy enough. Hills have Genia 5/6 Cooper 10/11 to score a try anytime, looks real value.

The team lined out different today, below is what it was. Their has being some changes. Hard to know, what the team will be now.

Kearney
Trimble
McFadden
Wallace
Earls
O’ Gara
Boss
Court
Cronin
Buckley
Ryan
Cullen ©
Leamy
O’ Brien
Heaslip

Good to see Ferris rested, and many more. Given Ferris doesnt even has a meniscus is his knee, we really need to wrap him up for the big ones at this point. McFadden on the wing and Paddy at 12, that’ll no doubt disappoint a few on here. Shame not to see Varley on the bench, but so be it.

I’d like to see a bit more backline firepower on the bench for what its worth, just in case, but it shouldnt be an issue.

IRELAND XV

(v Russia, Rotorua, Sunday, 6.0am)

15 Rob Kearney (Leinster)

14 Fergus McFadden (Leinster)

13 Keith Earls (Munster)

12 Paddy Wallace (Ulster)

11 Andrew Trimble (Ulster)

10 Ronan O’Gara (Munster)

9 Isaac Boss (Leinster)

1 Cian Healy (Leinster)

2 Seán Cronin (Leinster)

3 Tony Buckley (Sale)

4 Donncha O’Callaghan (Munster)

5 Leo Cullen (Leinster, capt)

6 Donnacha Ryan (Munster)

7 Seán O’Brien (Leinster)

8 Jamie Heaslip (Leinster)

Replacements : Rory Best (Ulster), Mike Ross (Leinster), Denis Leamy (Munster), Shane Jennings (Leinster), Eoin Reddan (Leinster), Jonathan Sexton (Leinster), Geordan Murphy (Leicester).

I would have rathered all the starting team to be rested. Can’t see the point in starting DOC, Healy, Kearney or SOB. Heaslip and Earls has to start because of lack of cover. Leamy, Court, Murphy should have got a start. Murray and Varley can feel ver unlucky not to be on the bench. We should win by 50 points +. I just hope we get no injuries.

Went for Oz to beat the handicap. Wouldn’t be surprised if they got close to the tonne this morning

PP were doing a shop special yesterday, offering 14/1 for Aus to get a 100. Good value at the price.

Anybody ??

You could pose the same question about North Korea at the last WC or Saudi Arabia at the 2002 WC etc

I dunno. I think the US will beat the handicap. It’s probably the freedom that’ll do it.

Would have preferred McFadden at 13 with Earls at 11 and Trimble at 14.

Surprised at Leamy not playing given he’s likely to be involved off the bench at least at some stage in the bigger games. Murray will certainly be disappointed but I can understand the need for a bit more international experience on the bench - just in case things aren’t going well.

I would think that half an hour against Italy would stand far more to Murray than starting or getting 30 minutes off the bench sunday morning. Agreed re Leamy especially as they are playing Ryan at 6, O’Callaghan could easily have been rested. Would have started Bowe as well as he needs gametime

Yea can agree with all of that.

Happy for Paddy to be getting the start, his 3rd World Cup and he’s played a total of 4 minutes so far.

USA seem to be putting it up to the Aussies somewhat according to the match tracker

10-0 after 20 minutes

Try for USA.

Australia are a mess.

US managing to turn their possession into points. In other news, Fingal legend Shane Ryan has grown some facial bumfluff and is playing scrum-half for the Eagles.
