You sure they’re not going to build an airport? Really?
james mccarthy isnt Irish but mcgraff houghton & townsend are?
Christ. I wasn’t actually taking your little airport joke seriously, just thought it was a decent segue to discussing the suspicion that the Sheikh is engaging in a bit of transfer pricing to get around the UEFA rules.
Ah I know that braz. Just extracting the urine. I’d say you’re right. Its not like COMS was that significant and historical a name anyway.
Speculation circulating that Madrid are preparing a €28m bid plus Benzema or Higuain for Carlos Tevez. City would be mental to reject that bid.
Presume you’d take Higuaín ahead of Benzema (after a strict medical)?
Yeah, Higuain is a more natural goalscorer. Think I’m going to be backing City fairly heavy this year for the title. I have a suspicion that both Nasri and Sneijder will be joining us.
Very much doubt that. Sneijder a possibility but I think Nasri will probably stay at Arsenal. If he does leave I think he will go to Utd. Who would you drop to make way for one or both of these?
A lot of the English Sunday papers have Sneijder down to sign for Manchester United next week for GBP£30m+.
I’d imagine that he is Ferguson’s preferred choice. Modric would have been of interest but with Spurs playing hardball that could have dragged out until the last day of the transfer window. Makes sense to get someone in early if possible and get them settled in.
Luka Modric hits out at Daniel Levy & reaffirms desire to join Chelsea: He threatened me - he said if I didn’t accept Tottenham’s stance I would be sat in the stands
Croatian star insists that he still hopes to ‘go our separate ways’ despite chairman insisting the midfielder will not be sold in the face of Chelsea interest

Luka Modric has hit out at Daniel Levy after the Tottenham chairman reaffirmed his desire to keep the Croatian playmaker at White Hart Lane, despite firm interest from Chelsea.
The Spurs No.14 had previously admitted that he would like to leave the club for pastures new, with the Stamford Bridge side his favoured destination, as it would allow him to remain in the capital.
But Tottenham, who received a £22 (€25) million bid from their London rivals, have issued a series of statements insisting that Modric, nor any of the A-list players, will be leaving the club this summer. Ahead of his return to England for pre-season training, the Croatian playmaker was involved in clear-the-air talks with the Spurs chief, after which Levy revealed issues had been resolved, and that the player understood the club’s position.
However, despite Levy’s insistence that they held a ‘very good conversation’ and that ‘once he’s back with his team-mates everything will be fine’, the Croatian has quickly rebuffed what he claims has been ‘twisted account of what happened’, before reaffirming his desire to leave the club.
"A lot has been published in the press about the meeting with Levy, who gave the public a twisted account of what happened,” Modric told Sportske Novosti. “I must say that I am genuinely disappointed about what Levy said to me.
“He threatened me - he said if I didn’t accept the club’s stance, they would make me sit on the bench or in the stands.”
“I hope that eventually he will understand the situation and that we will reach an agreement and go our separate ways in an appropriate manner.”
Tottenham’s stance has been that, having signed a contract extension last summer, keeping him at the Lane until 2016, that they would not entertain any offers for their prized asset.
But Modric is adamant that when he held discussions with the Spurs chairman over the new deal, Levy had promised to discuss any offers received from other clubs.
"I reminded the chairman of our gentleman’s agreement when we were in Dubrovnik last summer and I agreed a contract extension with Tottenham,” Modric continued.
“Then I had an open chat with Levy - that if a bigger club came in with a concrete offer, we would consider it and agree the best solution for all concerned.
"The chairman said, ‘Okay, we’ll sit and talk [about any offers]’. Now Levy doesn’t want to talk to me and said there is no possibility that I can leave Spurs.
“He didn’t care about what I was telling him. It all only convinced me further that I was right to consider moving on to another club.”
Now Modric, who manager Harry Redknapp conceded has been left ‘confused’ by the matter, feels that a move to Chelsea would be a ‘dream’, and that he has not considered the thought of being denied the move.
“I haven’t thought about it at all [not being allowed to leave] because it would definitely not be good for anyone.
“I have already told the chairman that last summer he said we would find a mutually satisfactory agreement if a club like Chelsea came in.
He added: “There is no doubt that Chelsea want me - they sent a concrete offer to Tottenham. I know that the new Chelsea boss said he wants me in his team. Of course I am flattered by this interest in me - it’s a club that all players dream of joining, fighting for every competition available.
“It wasn’t a snap decision - I talked a long time with my family and people whose opinions I respect. I thought about it, weighed it all up, and finally decided this was the best option.”
can utd afford his wages?
odd move for him
+1
I can only see City being able to offer the ambition and money that could tempt Sneijder to England.
Arsenal have made a 18 million bid for Stewart Downing apparently.

Wenger is some mong.
Liverpool are still the only team to bid , no interest shown from Arsenal, yet anyway.
Yes. Why an odd move?
media reports have backed that united cant afford his wages
i think tax is much higher in imperial britain than it is in Italy ,cant see him taking a pay cut to join a shitter team
That depends on how much he wants to be paid. “Shitter” team? Played in three of the last four Champions Leage finals, losing to one of the great football sides? You’ll have to try harder NCC
Come back to us when United beat Gaurdiola’s Barcelona.
