2011 Summer Transfer Window

cant see bayern doing much in the CL either. Boateng seems a bizarre signing and the likes of Badstuber, Van Buyten around still too. The thoroughly overrated Ribery would want to get his finger out too if they are to make an impact in the CL this season.

Jones looks to have serious potential for United. Smalling and the da Silvas Im not so sure about. Think Evra was muck last season really. Big hole in midfield but with the attacking quality of Rooney, Hernandez, Young and Nani available they wont be far behind the Spanish duopoly again this season. Valencia likely to play more centrally Id say this season.

I imagine Farmer was referring to the scoreless derby rather than the return game where Rooney shinned in the deflected cross that looped up behind him.

Ribery is a smashing player and far superior to Valencia and Young.

And Phil Jones is a good signing but Jerome Boateng to Munich isn’t? KIB man’s wearing his St George cross sunglasses in Bondi today, it seems.

ribery has only scored 3 more league goals in the past four seasons than young. young was playing for a pretty average side for that time too. ribery was dire in Euro 08 and obviously the last WC. The French Joe Cole.

That reflects very badly on Young so, given that the German season is only 34 league games long and Ribery has had some major injury problems the past few seasons.

jerome boateng on the 10-15 times Ive seen him simply play cannot play football. his stint at city was just ridiculous, bambi on ice. Thought he was shit for Germany in the WC too. All in all based on my viewings of him he is utterly shit. He may have been out of position at full back but he was so bad I cant imagine him being better in the centre. Leggy, lazy, no brain, no touch, cant pass - just utterly shit. jones on the admittedly 5 or so times I saw him play looked pretty decent. Gave me the impression of a young JT to be honest and seemed to have more potential than Cahill or the other young English pretenders. Prediction alert - will start for England at the euros.

Why do you hate England so much mate? 800 years of hurt and all that but still you identify more with those from just north of hadrians wall than that those of your own family. When you fix that identity crisis let us know

I thought Boateng was very good at the last World Cup.

not particularly, ribery has played approx 100 league games in that time for a side chasing titles on a regular basis. Young played for a hoofball set piece team for most of that. dont think ribery has anywhere near earned his status as one of the worlds top players. Arjen Robben at the same club has scored almost as much (28 goals in a remarkable injury prone 38 games over two seasons), Ribery is 31 goals from 97 games.

Ribery has 31 goals in 97 games.

Young has 28 goals in 144 games.

P.S. Martin O’Neill doesn’t have his teams play hoofball mate.

Is KIB man really trying to say that Ashley Young is better than Frank Ribery?

I think Ribery was overrated when he used to be christened one of the world’s best best players, but he is undoubtedly a very good footballer as evidence by his form where Bayern reached the CL final last season. Particularly the second leg against United where he, more that anyone, took the game to them in the second half. KIB probably doesnt remember this match as he didn’t see it, or maybe he did, I can’t remember.

Young has performed reasonably well in the EPL, but hasn’t even played on the international stage of any substance. He may turn out to be good on that stage but to say that he is superior to Ribery at the moment is ridiculous.

Ribery’s biggest problem for me is that he seems to take too much out of the ball at the crucial times. While he has tremendous ability, and has tremendous energy and workrate, he doesn’t have the best footballing brain.

Martin O’Neill OBE hasnt had a team in a while but the last side he had tended to have centre backs at full back - Carlos Cuellar. Reo Coker on the wing, Davy Fitz eque tactics give it to Young so he can lob it in for some to get a head on it. His last side also tended to play with ten men when his star striker Emile Heskey was on the park. Used to do very well on the corner counts and set pieces when Laursen was around but teams copped on and the MON myth was exposed. It wasnt all bad at Villa but the likes of Cuellar playing full back at home to Stoke didnt work out too well.

In the lower league he had successes with the Gerry Taggart’s, Steve Walsh’s, Steve Guppy’s, Neil Lennon’s etc - Hartson, Sutton, Agathe, Sylla - not the beautiful game but guess he did win 3 out of 5 SPL titles during his time with Glasgow Celtic, a coca cola cup with leicester so you cant argue it didnt get results.

No, he’s saying that an average player at a relegation dodging EPL side has nearly scored as many goals as Ribery.

Why do you have such a problem with this? You, on many occassions, have stated here that Northern Ireland is part of Great Britain.

That’s called crossing the ball mate, not hoofing it.

Using KIB Mans logic Peter Odemwingie and DJ Campbell are nearly as good as David Villa

yawn. typical farmer, lack of originality and confidence in your own opinion shines through yet again

never suggested young was better than ribery - rocko was saying he was far superior. you have actually agreed with me re Ribery but if you go back quick you can edit and noone will know

ribery’s international record is poor - 7 goals and a couple of big tournament failures thrown in. Think even Totti got more goals than that. young hasnt got much of a chance at international level, laughably so considering the likes of SWP and Milner have got umpteen chances. Seems to be working out well for Young in the three lions of late but big season for him for club and country ahead.

That really wasn’t a very good point at all. He doesn’t play like Joe Cole, he has far more caps, far more top level games, far more goals, far more everything.

Well that fairly ruined KIB Man’s point. You ended that argument a bit too quickly though.

Leggy and lazy eh? What does leggy mean in this context?

Ha! You’re a gas man to talk about original opinions, pretty much your entire post on Man City was a rehash of what I said. And there was nothing in my post that wasn’t original you utter cunt of a man.

It is his official title, I have no problem with it apart when he went on with what it means to be Irish lark. In essence he is the ultimate castle catholic but doesnt have the balls like McIllroy to say it so. The green beret brigade lap it the myth of the man who tried to leave for Leeds during his reign at Parkhead too.

The second sentence isnt an opinion, it is a fact. Check wikipedia if you dont believe me.
