Really what is your thinking behind that post? Why would you post up something that’s so obviously wrong.
You said Ribery is “thoroughly overrated” and said that Young had “attacking quality.” You put them side by side in successive paragraphs to invite comparison. You did therefore suggest that Young is better than Ribery. You don’t need to state something explicitly to suggest it.
Have you changed your mind anyway? Do you not like how the facts go against your initial point? Do let us know what you now think.
Sorry to be disputing with you mate but the second sentence you’re referring to (“You, on many occassions, have stated here that Northern Ireland is part of Great Britain.”) isn’t a fact.
You can check Wikipedia if you want. Great Britain is an island mate.
I’d say they’re more likely going on the clubs’ respective recent records in the champions league[/quote]
As matter of interest after watching Champions League final do you still think EPL lwas such a good standard last season gola?
Didn’t change my mind, as I’d always said Barca are in a different league to everyone at the moment. If not all time. Still think the EPL is generaly a higher standard than it was before which was always my argument. The fact United reached the CL final while struggling far more through the domestic campaign (defeats, draws and narrow, lucky wins over low placed teams) than they have done in the past was what made me think that.

Fair enough. I think it is more to do with better teams stagnating more so than any dramatic improvement in mid range sides in the league but there you go.
Look it’s just a simple fact of football economics that they are the best cos they have more money than other leagues at the moment. Their TV deal allows a good spread of money down the league. It doesn’t prove English people are superior or anything.
In fact it’s the opposite as they should be better than they are with the money they have but are obsessed with splashing massive cash on the Jordan Hendersons and Andy Carrolls of this world just cos they are English.
The explanation for me saying they struggled is that I didn’t say it. I said they struggled more than in other years. They didn’t have near as many comfortable wins as previous years, and in fact lost, drew and had narrow lucky wins over the lower teams in the league.

Oh for sure it is one of the top leagues all right. Wouldn’t disagree with that at all. Just don’t think it is that superior to some other leagues and nor do I see the improvement in the league last year compared to other years. In fact based on how top teams performed in Europe I’d say they regressed slightly.
Ah sure it’s the kind of thing you can never prove just end up going round in circles. This board is the only place I’d ever stick up for the EPL. I’m not a massive fan of any particular team anymore or anything and would always have instinctively thought the Italian or Spanish leagues were miles ahead of it.
In fairness that’s not the case any more and it’s at least the equal of the other two if not slightly higher standard and there is one simple reason - money. Won’t last forever though.
