2011 Summer Transfer Window

Sky Sports have confirmed that this bid has been rebuffed by Sunderland who are holding out for closer to GBP £20m.

Coentrao to Madrid for €22m is said to have been agreed between the Benfica and Real.

The price for Henderson is outrageous for an average player, IMO.

Did I read somewhere that Madjeski has put a 23M fee on Shane Long’s head? Who’s he fucking kidding.

You and Mancini MBB, its only 20 !

I take it back, a snip at the price so.

Friedel has signed for Spurs.

I see Liam Miller has signed for Perth Glory.

I was only chatting to Bandage’s assailant about him yesterday. Wondered what had happened to him.

He was at Hibernian

Yeah he was pretty poor for them. Strange career. People will point to his success in the SPL but it was really the Champions League where he made his impact. He only made around 20 SPL apperances for Celtic anyway. In Europe he looked confident, skillful on the ball, energetic and importantly influential. By the end of his time with Hibs even he was a passenger - making few enough contributions in general play. Just happy to sit there in midfield and play the ball when it came to him. Wonder where it went wrong? Confidence was an issue probably - and he was unlikely to be as good as in European performances suggested he would be but he really did make a bit of a mess of his club career.

They are called Aviva now.

Do you mind if I do a sid waddell and come up with another pun to try to outdo that one even though the funny quip’s already been made and the moment has probably passed?

Please don’t.

But it’s funny…

Fuck you Farmer. I’m going ahead with my quip.

Not sure about this move for Liam Miller. Think he’d be better off in the hands of Hibernian.

Well?

At least you kept it relatively straightforward and didn’t try and outdo me by combining several different ‘puns’ in the sentence.

Hibernation more like. Boom

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel has joined Sporting Lisbon from FC Utrecht for €6m on a 5-year deal. I saw him torment Celtic in the Europa League early last season and was present for his brace against Ajax* in the Amsterdam ArenA last October too. I think he’s a very good player. Mobile, can lead the line and a good finisher too.

  • I go to the odd Eredivisie game you see.

In other news, Mark Bolton has announced that he’s leaving Sky. Their La Liga coverage has been excellent with him at the helm.

Any idea where Bolton is going?

Nope, he just said on his Twitter page that he wanted to pursue other interests outside Sky.
