A High Performance Unit weekend camp in Donegal was clashing with the launch of the book charting the history of Sarsfields GFC Wexford town a couple of summers ago.
He left Donegal late Saturday afternoon and got into the clubhouse in Páirc Charman 5 or so hours later. Spoke at the launch, chatted to his clubmates for a couple of hours and then got straight back on the road to Donegal to be present for their 6am start on the Sunday morning.
Take a huge shock for Katie not to take home gold.
I reckon Barnes will take a silver Nevin gold and Conlon Bronze.
Conlon has the Cuban in the semi so that could be beyond him. Barnes should have enough do he Indian today but I think being in a final might allow him to buy into the hype too much.

Still another fight before the final for Barnes if he wins today.
Barnes has a semi first probably against Zou Shiming the world number one. The last time they met Barnes got beaten 15-0. I can’t see how he’ll turn that around. He is going to find it hard tonight anyway against Singh from India. He needs to up it another gear tonight to beat Singh. His defense will have to be at it’s best.
Conlan is going to find it tough against the Cuban. The Cuban dismantled Selby, who is not a bad fighter. The tactics will have to be spot on or Conlan will lose. If he starts off like he did last night, the Cuban could be out of sight by the 1st round. He is a very accurate puncher.
Nevin has a tough one against the world number one Alverez. Alverez hasn’t impressed me so far and is there to be got at. Nevin has been brilliant and if he fights like he did the last night he can beat him. I’d fancy him in the final against either Campbell or Shimizu
Irish Olympic gold medalist Cian O’Connor has been handed a late entry into todays show jumping individual final.
He was first reserve and another horse has pulled out so he’s got the spot.
Off at 12.
Tremendous display of horsemanship from Cian. A clear round in 83.56 just inside the permitted 84 seconds. He’ll comfortably make the last 20 jump off for the afternoon with that effort.
