2014 Club Championships
What way does the semi final draw work this year?

Stacks, Slaughtneil, Corofin and Vincents/Rhode left.
Slaughtneil v Stacks
Corofin v Leinster

would love to see how Moran trains a team especially the forwards. .they always seem very comfortable on the ball and never afraid to shoot…before yesterday I would have thought his teams would have been considered a bit too open but slaughtneil are well able to drop men back…

Corofin still have to play Tir Conaill Gaels

Yesterdays Offaly MHC Final, oddly enough it was abandoned at half time.

Great pic, but what it doesnt show is that the ball hadnt even been pucked out yet.

Barely a minor match played all summer and they wonder why they’re shite

Agreed.

In the South Tipperary division, I don’t think they have reached the semi final stages in their Hurling championships yet. Fucking candicaps.

I don’t think the Offaly u -16 or 14 or 12 championships were completed until the last week or two either. Minor football final was just last week too

Brolly had a good article on Slaughtneil today. In it he referenced the fact that Slaughtneil pulled their teams out of the 1981 Derry Championship as a sign of solidarity with the 1981 hunger strikers. I wasn’t aware of this, a great club and I hope they can go on and win the AI now.

Yeah, they were very comfortable on the ball and had a good work ethic. There’s a tradition in certain counties and Derry’s would be producing outstanding defenders who are tough and sticky. You think back to the likes of Kieran McKeever, Scullion, Downey, Lockhart etc and you can see it today with the likes of McGoldrick and McKaigue among others.

McIver probably won’t be best pleased with the results as I’d say he would be looking with a strong interest in the likes of Brendan Rogers, Karl McKaigue, Paudie McGuigan and Christopher Bradley for next year. Hope it clicks for Derry soon at county level as they have players good enough to win Ulster and challenge for an All Ireland.

always seem to have a real hardy bastard of a midfieder too…Bradley looks like he’d run through a brick wall, like Fergal Doherty before him and the likes of johnny mcbride, Heaney or McGilligan…

Slaughtneil should take care of Austin Stacks anyway. That Munster match yesterday was pure dog shit.

U-21 and Minor B only Har.

Oh i know, was replying to @corner back 's post ref an Offaly Minor Co Final being abandoned due to fog over the weekend.

Did you hear that the Co Board were looking for the West & South Divisions to join up for Minor Competitions?

That was an awful stupid thing to do

Won’t happen. Clubs in the West are not going to go for it. Only 2 teams in the West minor A next year by the looks of it.

Co Board looking to eradicate the Divisions basically. Imagine facing into a spin from Kilcommon to Ballyporeen for a Minor B Hurling match of a Wednesday evening.

I fail to see the benefit for either division, it’s not like one will improve the other.

If the Divisional Boards actually graded teams properly then the main issue of too few A grade teams would not be an issue.

That’s the main issue alright but often clubs don’t help by wanting to play ‘b’ or claiming that if they are put up to ‘a’ they won’t have a team.

There’s also other issues than this. One example is Arravale. Got to a county minor A hurling final three years ago yet couldn’t field at under 21 this year. Also talk of two more senior teams in the division dropping down to intermediate for next year. If that happens you would have only 2 senior teams and 9 intermediate sides.

In reality the Senior Hurling divisions are defunct bar the Mid & North. The County League system for Senior & Intermediate are working really well. So in the case of the West, a West championship should include Intermediate teams and be straight knockout IMO. Would add great interest to otherwise unattractive round robin games that currently exist.
