Backs to the wall stuff for the Azzurri
Aquilani sealing his summer back in Italy with his performance so far.
Jesus, champagne football from the Oirish, should be 3-0 up at this point.
Aquilani, who just came on for Montolivo, goes off with a concussion.
Should be 2 or 3 nil to us (I mean Ireland, not the āusā some consider themselves to be)
That was a terrible effort by Long.
@Il Bomber Destro when did Paletta switch to being Italian? Any reason he was never called up by Argentina - they havenāt been blessed with an abundance of centre backs.
Immobile may be giving Prandelli some second thoughts out there tonight, he has been very poor. Could be a chance for Destro tonight if he gets on.
It didnāt look like the contact was with his ankle either.
Made his debut against Spain around March, think he was always eligible as he has possessed an Italian passport since moving to Europe but he was approached by Italy after some great performances. He was MOTM on his debut. Argentina are pretty weird when it comes to calling up their best defenders. Campagnaro was another one who could have possibly played for Italy as he didnāt break into the Argentine setup until he was past his 30s.
He is less and less impressive in every game I see him.
Immobile a little unfortunate there, that was a better first touch but he hasnāt shown great touches so far.
Nice movement from Immobile but on a whole he has underwhelmed. Rossi has been excellent tonight, some lovely first touch football from him. I wonder how long Prandelli will stick with him.
Yeah hard to believe Argentina felt theyāve had 4 better central defenders than Paletta for every game over the past 10 years.
Alex Pearce doesnāt look like the solution to our central defensive problems based on that half. Hendrick has looked decent in midfield. Long has a poor first touch and is a very poor finisher but his pace continues to get him into threatening positions.
Motta, De Sciglio, Darmian, Verratti and Rossi have done their cases no harm with their displays so far.
Immobile would have been pretty secure before tonight I would have thought but maybe not so after that 1st half. Rossi looking really sharp and Iād imagine heās shown Prandelli enough in that first half. Aquilaini was dreadful when he came on.
Cesare Prandelli was dealt his serious injury scare when Montolivo went down with an apparent leg injury following a clumsy challenge by Alex Pearce. As he received lengthy treatment, the Milan man was seen mouthing to teammates āMi sono rotto,ā Italian for āIāve broken it.ā It now remains to be seen how serious the problem is. He was then stretchered off, with Alberto Aquilani coming on in his place.
Did I not say that earlier?
No.
More ineptitude from Long. Either take it on or play the pass. It was a simple pass to play.
Fucking Long is so frustrating
Fuxake, Long should be shot for that pass
