2015 All Ireland Football Championship - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE IT STOP

What a goalfest. Great for football

2-9 would win a lot of championship matches, Ger.

They should just give O Shea the POTY gong now and be done with it

Entertaining stuff.
Reminds of Brazil v Costa Rica in WC 2002.

The Brazil/Sweden Final of 58 also springs to mind

What weekend are the quarter finals down for? Is it two double headers on the Saturday and Sunday proceeding the August Bank Holiday Monday?

I asked a similar question earlier and got no response. I’m worried the footballers might be out again the Saturday of raceweek

Last year I think there was two on the bank holiday weekend, and two the following Saturday. Dublin Monaghan was one of those. I presume it’s the same this year.

I believe it is as follows:

Two quarter finals on Sunday August 2nd
Kerry v Fermanagh/Westmeath
Dublin v Cork/Kildare

Two on Saturday August 8th:
Monaghan v Tyrone/Sligo
Mayo v Donegal/Galway

All-Ireland semi-finals:
August 23rd
Kerry/Fermanagh/Westmeath v Monaghan/Tyrone/Sligo

August 30th:
Dublin/Cork/Kildare v Mayo/Donegal/Galway

They really should have played “To Win Just Once” over the PA there to take the piss as Mayo stroll to a five in a row in Connacht.

Must every heavy defeat suffered by a team be used to promote a two-tier championship?

Go and fuck.

Who’s this windbag?

I don’t see Donegal competing for an All Ireland now, I’d favour Mayo to beat them should they get past Galway.

The simple matter is, unlike most other provinces going for All Irelands, Ulster teams have to peak for May. Monaghan and Donegal have both had Tyrone in their opening round games in the past three years in Ulster and it’s telling that the team who has had to peak for their opening game against Tyrone has lost the Ulster final.

Donegal’s defensive system was well below what it normally is today. You’d imagine the loss of McGuinness has to have something to do with it. The habits the players have learned over the past five years are still ingrained in them to a large extent but perhaps without his leadership, it just isn’t the same.

Lacey and McFadden were their two most important players in 2012 and both now appear to be over the hill.

There’ll be one last sting in them to beat us. Big for dublin that one of mayo or donegal will be gone in the quarters, two of the three teams with kerry who can possibly beat them.

Kerry are the ones to benefit if anything. Dublin certainly don’t benefit.

There’s now a chance Dublin will have to beat both Donegal and Kerry to win the All-Ireland whereas if Donegal had won today they could only have played one of them.

I think Monaghan might have enough to take Tyrone in Croke Park this time but I’m not so sure if they’ll have the mentality or the bench to beat Kerry.

I’m undecided about the outcome Donegal-Galway tie, but at this early stage my gut says Galway. Talk that it may go to Croke Park which I’d imagine would suit Donegal. If Galway do get over Donegal I think they’d be a hugely dangerous proposition for Mayo.

Team of the Championship so far:

  1. Paul Durcan
  2. Dermy McBride
  3. Ronan McNamee
  4. Ryan Wylie
  5. Karl O’Connell
  6. Vinny Corey
  7. Frank McGlynn
  8. Neil Gallagher
  9. Ryan Jones
  10. Peter Harte
  11. Ciaran Kilkenny
  12. Gary Sice
  13. Diarmuid Connolly
  14. Aidan O’Shea
  15. Conor McManus

Not too many standout inside forwards which is why I’ve picked Connolly in there.

It also looks highly probable that three of the 2013 quarter finals will be repeated this year.

Dublin v Cork
Mayo v Donegal
Monaghan v Tyrone

Old rating

My emphasis on the 2013 repeat draws is both new and insightful.
