2015 All Ireland Football Championship - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE IT STOP

That was the whole history of Cork football summed up in one neat little vignette…

O Donoghue must have savage movement

Certain black card for Kerrigan here.

Kerrigan will get black here.

Is that not a replica tackle to the one a Kerry player got a yellow for?

The consternation in the Cork full back line there in that high ball in for Donaghy there.

Don’t think the Kerry lad intended to do it

Very similar. It was sloppier though.

Buckely’s challenge was high, that was just a calculated drag down to stop a lad running straight in on goal.

Carney’s reaction to that tackle by Johnny Buckley amused me. It apparently wasn’t deliberate, he merely “happened to get him around the neck”.

Does every Cork handpass have to take a bounce before reaching its recipient?

Brian Sheehan with a poor tackle there

It’s ridiculous. I’ve noticed it at games and watching on telly. If you go high around the neck and nearly decapitate someone you get the benefit of the doubt. Anything lower is a certain black card. Both tackles were deliberate drag downs and clear black cards.

Agree rating.

around the neck has traditionally been a yellow card offence

I thought that was a very soft free.

That’s the rule though.

It’s hard to drag someone down by catching them round the neck. As long as you don’t trip or pull/drag them to the ground it’s not a black card. You could shoulder some guy in on goal right through the back and it’s not a black card.

The rule should be changed to cynical fouls and referees should have the common sense to interpret it properly.

Cork must take that sort of chance.

Cork aren’t ponderous enough coming out of defence. They need to slow it down even more.

Goodnight.
