2015 Summer Transfer Window Thread

They’ve been seriously lacking in depth though.
I’d be hoping a few of last years signings could kick on another notch.
That in combination with a fully fit Sturridge and not having to force Stevie G into the team and they should improve.

Big Mick will only get about £150k of that to spend but he’ll have them battling for promotion.

Bandage as a high flying accountant could you tell us the profit in % terms Big Mick made Ipswich on this Mings deal. Bought for 10k and sold for 8 million

I think that’s a 79,990% profit for Big Mick McCarthy, @Big_Dan_Campbell.

Mings is shit as well.

Great bit of business by Big Mick.

Carlos Bacca’s agent has claimed the player has reached an agreement with Milan but Sevilla and Milan still need to agree terms. He has a buyout of €30m which Milan are hoping to avoid paying.

Vidal set to join Arsenal according to the Daily Telegraph.

Would be a great signing for them. £21m seems an oddly sensible fee for an English club too. Juve have Khedira joining them but with Pirlo departing, I think they’ll miss someone with Vidal’s energy. Probably grown a bit wary of his indiscipline but thought they’d have been able to get more for him.

I doubt Juve would let him go that cheaply. He has an awful lot of admirers and is a key player with a club who are in a very solid financial position. I’d imagine if he does go then the fee will about €40-45m.

Bit of a strange post. I think pretty much everyone accepts that a mistake was made there, so at best you are putting forward a strawman in implying that there are people that think he isn’t good enough for United. But there was also the small matter of two decades of unprecedented success for the club when Fergie took over the club after two decades in the doldrums, so I think most people can overlook the odd mistake.

Ferguson was successful so you can’t criticise something he did wrong? That’s ludicrous. There is enough of a pattern in Pique, Rossi and Pogba of Ferguson missing out on talent he already had because he was unable to bring them through properly. He had his “Class of 99” or whatever but after that he made a number of high profile mistakes in failing to see the talent his youth recruiters had acquired for him.

Of course he can be criticised for mistakes, and Pogba was a big mistake, but a sweeping sarcastic “Fergie was so shrewd” is also ludicrous given the level of his success.

I think you’re being over-sensitive. He’s always called shrewd. He has shown times when he has been less than shrewd. It makes sense to reference the unchallenged shrewdness in that instance.

There was lots of this debate when he retired. He undoubtedly transformed United but he also made an awful lot of errors and probably held too much power in the club which prevented them from having a wider vision and capitalising on their enormous financial superiority to the extent they should have.

All that lovely context may have been there in your head as you were typing, but in isolation your post comes across as a bit weird, and particularly seems to be based on the premise that there is a widespread belief that the Pogba situation was handled well by United, which just isn’t true.

Yoann Gourcuff has been released by Lyon.

He is a very classy player but extremely injury prone, looked like he was going to develop into a real quality player a few years back. Assume he will stay in France

A lovely silky player alright - back to Bordeaux apparently.

Stoke City have agreed a fee of £12m with Inter Milan for Xherdan Shaqiri.

Best league in the world.

Cabaye to Crystal Palace

Clyne to Liverpool = Done Deal

Next up Benteke.

Liverpool are getting their business done very early this year.

This is OUR year

Christ. That is unbelievably depressing. Fucking Stoke.
