You are in your hole… At least MBB embraces his inner roaster, watching you trying to defend you position instead of going full roaster is difficult viewing.

I said at the start that dinner was in the middle of the day in Gaa country. I’m proud of my roaster heritage

just to muddy the waters…

‘from Old French disner (11c.), originally "breakfast," later “lunch,” noun use of infinitive disner. Always used in English for the main meal of the day; shift from midday to evening began with the townies’

I have never eaten dinner before 6 pm in my life.

Culchies ate townies for dinner*

*In the middle of the day

Remember @ChocolateMice doesn’t even eat a breakfast. Eating your main meal of the day in the middle day is far healthier for you.

I’d say that’s not true. Never. Really?

Anyway here is the traditional sequence of meals in Ireland.

Breakfast
Dinner
Tea

Occasionally supper before you went to bed.

Dinner was had at lunchtime. Tea was had at tea time. There was no dinner time. Tea could be a high tea and occasionally was a meat tea.

Where was lunch in all of this? Lunch was something you took to school in a bag.

Anyone who uses the term “Sunday Lunch” is a west brit or a prod

incorrect. straight after mass. no later than half one.

What about lunch on Monday-Saturday?

Saying lunch in general when referring to your biggest meal of the day is a very non Irish thing

Yes, that’s why people call it dinner and have it at night not at lunch.

Only townies have dinner at night

Yes, exactly. Sophisticated, modern and civilised humans have dinner in the evening/at night with their family and loved ones… Then you have you mudhut dwellers who have dinner at 1 O Clock while their kids are having lunch at the same time.
