2016 Club Championships

Blockbuster Monaghan final starting now.

Castleblaney looking resplendent for the big day.

Up Scotstown.

Disappointingly clear stereo sound for the national anthem as the local Mariah Carey belts it out.

The echo and feedback on a tannoy system is crucial to a classic Ulster version of the anthem.

Great crowd in blaney. What a great occasion. I must attend a Monaghan football and Antrim hurling final soon,

Wonderful defending for that goal.

Like something Mayo would do.

Just stood there gazing as the ball dropped out of the sky against the post & bounced in the square.

This referee is very rotund. :see_no_evil:

Exciting game so far.

The standard is very good - the men train just as hard as the women, and this is much more exciting than the vast majority of women’s matches I’ve watched this year - the added physicality and intensity means it’s better to watch.

Bang bang and Scotstown transform a level game into a six point lead withing a minute!

Good win by Scotstown. The Cues brothers delivered when needed.

Kilcoo will be a big test in the first round of Ulster.

Crossmaglen lose the county semi to Cullyhanna to a last minute goal.

Cross losing really opens it up.

From my reading of I would expect the final to be:

Scotstown/Kilcoo v Slaughtneil/Coalisland/Killyclogher

I think Killyclogher have a great chance of winning Ulster if they can get past Coalisland.

1-15 to 0-17. Seamus Darby-esque.

Mount Sion 1-21 De La Salle 0-24. AET. 2 wonderful Austin Gleeson points took the game to extra time.

Was in Portlaoise today to see the town go marching in once again against Donie Kinston, or Arles Killeen as he calls the team. They’re a one man band god bless them, and the decision of the Arles’ these past 20 years has denied them half a dozen or so County titles. Mad cunts. They got close to Portlaoise with a stunning 20 yard goal, but in truth it just woke Portlaoise up and they’re simply too good. They’ll meet Stradbally in the final, who have a nice young team, and with Colm Begley back have a serious player to work around. But in truth no one will touch Portlaoise as they go for 10. I believe Zach’s not going to be around to help out if they get stuck in the final, had that been the case last year, Emo would have won. Such is life.

Unbelievable scenes in Dungarvan tonight. Outsiders Abbeyside a goal up against Ballygunner with 15 minutes to go when the match was abandoned due to power failure.

One of the Sullivan’s is a sparks. Just saying like.

Passage beat Fourmile by 2 and Dungarvan beat Roanmore after extra time.

Kilcar and Glenswilly are in the Donegal decider, it might be a bit flippant of me to ignore the Donegal winners but generally club football in Donegal would not be of a great standard. Kilcar have the three McHughs and the two McBreartys who are all current Donegal panelists so are bound to be of a decent standard and have Martin McHugh in charge of them. I’m not sure if Michael Hegarty still plays for them.

@croppy_boy

Would Kilcar be favourites against Michael Murphy’s Glenswilly?

Are Kilcar good enough to win an Ulster?

Was just reading about that. Conspiracy theories must be flowing already.

Much like the likes of Portlaoise in Laois, thats the only way to catch a team like that. They’ve so much nouse that they never panic if anything like that happens any other time in the game. Dont give them time to come back. Or bring on Zach.

That’s the way to beat them alright. I thought Mayo had it set up for a smash and grab effort last night as well.

Tell us, how did the intermediate final go?
