Agree absolutely with that. Who were pre match favourites?
It looked, on the telly at least, like a lot of the players were far from huge, and would struggle against the bigger IC hurlers about these days. Even in hurling, by and large,a good big un will beat a good little un.
Sadly not. But he did knock a chap out cold when one of his ground stokes caught the chap flush in the head with the sliothair.
What has delayed the wFord SHC to now, the 21s?
Playing 1/4s only on Oct 9th?
Oh ya, thats more important in hurling than in football now. The rucks are absolutely critical. There is a bizarre reluctance to even coach for the rucks in Cork. You would hear lads regularly say “i’m not coaching that shit”. Mind you Erins Own definitely worked on that going by today. They just didn’t have the overall age profile, fitness and experience of the Glen.
And ya thats the issue with alot of these lads. There is no culture of Strength & Conditioning in Cork teams. So they might get someone decent at Minor, they might not. Then its unlikely they will get someone at u21 and its not as focused a group anyway. You get great experience and good games at u21, but not alot of coaching. And then the Senior has been and continues to be completely sub par.
So some of those nice stick hurlers the Glen or the likes produce never really get brought theough a system where they are really challenged and developed physically. Plus alot of these “nice” hurlers are not picked for Cork squads anymore as over the last 10 years ohysicality has been the priority. We completely have lost this approach if being able to change a nice hurler physically into believing we can change a physical hurlers skills, which is far harder.
Cork are fucking years off. And its only going to get worse.
Glen would have been favourites.
Success and replays.
Who would be a club hurler
Some cod
Hopefully Kilcoo and Scotstown will be broadcast next week. Should be a cracking match.
Gunners win by 14 in the end.
Semi final draw.
Cnoc Sion v the Gunners.
Passage v Dungarvan.
Footage here of Austins point from the lineball.
Watching the highlights of Laois Co Final there, patrons who paid in got good value for their money.
What was B/K’s beef with the ref at the final whistle? I see the R/E CB was having a niggle with one of the opposing selectors too.
He played a minute over the allotted time and blew as soon as the equalizer landed. In Lalors defense, there had been time wasting so I felt he was justified. Borris were seething though. It blew up briefly but was over almost immediately, we don’t count that in Laois.
@Spidey, are the Dublin SFC quarter final ties fixed or has the draw still to take place? I thought Ballymun and Vincent’s both looked very strong yesterday. Who do you feel is the champion elect? Any other views from Dublin football die-hards based on the games you attended over the weekend? cc @Matty_Hislop @Juhniallio @Sidney
Just watched this now. Some scores in that game.
All hurling next weekend thank god . Clare final live and Galway deferred .
Draw has yet to take place.
Who did you think looked stronger between Vincent’s and Ballymun?
I have a sneaking fancy for Crokes at 5/1.
Early exits the last two years and no title since 2010. They’ll be ravenous for this one.
Do Ballymun or Vincents have many outsiders?
With Crokes being so homegrown they are probably on a par now.
Vincent’s have brought in a couple this year. Enda Varley and Lorcan Smyth from Westmeath. Dorney is not playing. Mossy Quinn must be 36 at least now. Have a feeling Vincent’s may not be quite as good this year.
Not sure about Ballymun. Paddy Carr who managed Crokes to an All-Ireland is managing them this year.
Some of the scores in the final ten minutes defied belief.
What do you make of McGleenan off to Cavan? I’d imagine he’ll wait until the Ulster campaign is finished. I’ll be having a considerable sum on us this year (again).
Draw takes place tomorrow mate
Is it definite?
I thought Banty was getting it?
Views on Mattie are quite mixed, some think he couldn’t fail at Scotstown with that team, others feel he has done a great job in making them into that team, county is a completely different ball game to club though. I guess when/if he gets the Cavan job we will see what he is made of.
