Thought they might have shown the big local derby in Carlow with challengers Mount Leinster Rangers seeking to prevent the aristocrats of St Mullins bringing up a three in a row. You can understand them showing the Galway final but Clare club hurling has been an irrelevance in the provincial and All Ireland championships for years.
Vincent’s looked very strong at the back and Na Fianna didn’t really make an impression on them after winning a penalty in their first attack and then converting it. Connolly was midfield and out around the half forward line for the most part but got his goal just before half time when he spent a couple of minutes full forward. Their forwards didn’t look too potent individually otherwise - Varley and Quinn got a few scores between them but they combine well as a team and the half backs got forward well. They had the Sligo wing back Egan playing.
I was slightly more impressed by Ballymun. McMahon, McCarthy, Small and Hubbard as part of the defence along with James Burke from Mayo. That’s very strong for club level. Davy Byrne was very prominent in midfield - he had a great range of passing. Rock won’t miss many frees and Jason Whelan is pretty decent upfront too. They might find it hard enough to break down a really strong defence like Vincent’s though.
This has always been their problem and why they find it so hard to win when it matters.
James McCarthy did his hamstring yesterday. He is a huge loss to ballymun. Draw for quarter finals is tomorrow night.
Talk that it’s a recurrence of his knee problem?
Cian O’Sullivan will surely be back for the latter stages to bolster an already strong Crokes team which is another reason I fancy them.
A fiver admission charge for yesterday’s double header in Parnell Park was outstanding value. The GAA at local and national level always get pricing spot on. Only twenty euro for the Wexford SFC final yesterday too.
I heard hamstring but that could be a story
With prices like that Dublin GAA must be taking in very little revenue compared to other counties.
It’s amazing they manage to sustain two competitive inter-county teams.
That’s unreal. It was €7 to watch the West Limerick Junior B League Hurling final this year.
If they charged properly maybe we wouldn’t have to subsidise them so much
Do the Dublin Senior Championships have a sponsor ???
FFS it was €10 on Saturday and I was only in to see one game.
Draw tonight - chance of another day out if we draw Raheny, Lucan or Skerries.
FYI your physio pal James Sherry continuing to play great stuff. 1-3 from play on Sunday.
€8 into see Mount Sion v DLS. €5 students and OAPs. Free souvenir official programme.

The Dublin hurling team slipping back to a state of uncompetitiveness.

The Evening Herald were long running title sponsors but I think this stopped around about the time of Dublin’s deal with AIG and the competition no longer has a title sponsor.
15.00 for any game in Cork (in pairc i Ring) . 20.00 for finals.
Joke shop
10 euro to GG last 2 Sunday’s . Not too bad TBH .

Just bumped into him in Dublin 2 and had a quick chat. I remarked on their victory at the weekend and he never referenced his own scoring feats. His humility is staggering - I doubt he’ll even mention it at the deli counter today either. He regards Crokes, Vincent’s and Ballymun as favourites and thinks the other five will all be confident of beating each other. Nothing too unusual there.
Its disgusting, and people eventually - if they aren’t already - will just not bother turning up.
Seemed to be a good atmosphere at the final last weekend. I think smaller grounds should always be used for club matches
