Ballyhale win by three.
Kilmacud Crokes will play Cuala in the Dublin stick hurling final after they recorded facile victories over O’Toole’s and Lucan Sarsfields respectively today.
the cuala and lucan game sounds like a stinker of a game. I reckon kilmacud will walk the final
Second game diabolical stuff by the sounds of it.
Glenswilly have beaten Kilcar by a point in Donegal.
1/7 on Kilcar was crazy odds given that Glenswilly contested an Ulster final in 2013.
Maghery about to beat Cullyhanna in Armagh.
Sickener for Cullyhana having beaten Cross.
I’d say McKeever is fairly sick at the sight of missing that one.
Maghery win 1-13 to 0-13 for their first title.
Some big guns taken out today. Scotstown, Portlaoise, Kilcar.
Long range forecast is the Dublin champions v the Mayo champions in the All-Ireland final. Three big guns remain in each of those championships respectively.
Plus ca change.
Do you know the semi-final draw for Ulster, @Sidney?
Quarters currently shaping up as:
Coalisland/Killyclogher v Cargin
Slaughtneil v Derrygonnelly
Maghery v Castlerahan/Ramor
Kilcoo v Glenswilly
I would have Slaughtneil as favourites there, Sid. I suppose it changes the way the semi-final draw works out. Glenswilly will be a tough one for Kilcoo but I think home advantage is huge here, quite a drive from Newry to Ballybofey/Letterkenny.
I would expect Killyclogher to edge Cargin if they beat Coalisland, I think the delay in the repla in Tyrone has an impact on dynamics here though and Cargin are decent - they possibly could have beaten Cross last year but imploded when they were leading with 15 mins left last year.
Slaughtneil will beat Derrygonnelly pulling up.
Maghery should have too much for the Cavan champs.
Kilcoo and Glenswilly is a tough one to call.
Slaughtneil the only side to win Ulster in recent times. Kilcoo do have the advantage of coming through their county championship fairly handy so will have been geared for Ulster from the outset (but they have had to start from the preliminary round) - the other Ulster sides don’t really have that luxury there.
Top half:
Coalisland/Killyclogher v Cargin
Slaughtneil v Derrygonnelly
Bottom half:
Maghery v Castlerahan/Ramor
Kilcoo v Glenswilly
Slaughtneil v Kilcoo final for me.
Passage V. Ballygunner in the Waterford final. Passage ground out a one point win over Dungarvan while in the other semi final Ballygunner had 10 to spare in a facile victory over a poor Mount Sion team. Pauric Mahony was imperious for the winners who will be hot favourite for the final.
Stradbally need a goal…
Crokes beat Kenmare district comfortably enough with the Gooch grabbing 0-7 and MOTM for their 5th Kerry in 7 years.
Extra disappointing for Kenmare as it was a one shot deal as they’ll lose either their Kenmare or Templenoe players next year, either of which would constitute a loss of half the team more or less, as both contest the intermediate final.
Which makes the District thing a bit of a joke.
Not at all.
Why?
A bucket load of players get to play Senior Football that itherwise wouldn’t.
Bar maybe Clare and places like Leitrim few places has as big a turnover of players and young people leaving as Kerry. Clubs can disappear overnight.
Templenoe is a freak thing. We used to play them a bit back in the day, when Div . 4 or 5. They were shit.
This team they have more or less all came together yet below it i thi k they have no boy at one particular age. Nobody.
So its crucial to the Kerry team and just to the promotion of football these lads have a senior team.
Ths pick they have is still dwarfed by most clubs who will reach Munster club series for instance
Nice finish. He wasn’t passing it to the corner back running off his shoulder. Great turnover by the midfielder to start the move.
A laois man told me this evening that Stradbally as county champions has historically augered well for the county team.
No mention for Dr Crokes?
Brosnan, Cooper, Fitzgerald, O’Leary and Buckley from present or recent Kerry senior teams
Jordan Kiely and Michael Burns off the 2014 and 2015 minor winning teams cant make the starting 15. Another chap Mike Milner is a former Cork minor and a
sub. Surely in with a shout? Coached by former all Ireland winner manager Pat O’Shea
One short kick pass the whole move but good finish. Great to see the stranglehold broken.
That midfielder was Colm Begley, his first year back with Stradbally after moving down from Parnells.
Not sure about that Stradbally thing to be honest, but its good for Portlaoise to be knocked. Funny, Stradbally were in a relegation final last year, champions this year. Emo should have been champions last year, relegated this year.
No Zach today. They could have done with him. They lost Bruno McCormack early after a questionable “foul” and Bruno is vital to them. Portlaoise have been on the wane these past 2 years, someone was going to get them eventually. Josephs should have, Stradbally never feared Portlaoise.
