What time did ye pull the plug

Who was the enterprising fucker Selling the 17-G-Liam number plates?
Enjoy it pal, delighted for you personally. One of the good guys on here.
No idea, sold a few Iâd say
Elaborate, please.
Thanks @Fagan_ODowd. It was an enjoyable and at times moving occasion.
You are most gracious. I hope I would have been equally gracious had we lost.
I thought we had the rub of the green, and that was the difference, albeit youâd not want to concede the second goal again.
To be honest, I enjoyed the minor match almost as much.
There are a few Waterford players who Iâd like to see win an all Ireland. Brick, Moran and Connors in particular.
O Keefe is the best goalie in the game also.
Anyhow, Iâm glad both teams played pretty well. There isnât a Waterford player can honestly look at themselves this morning and believe they didnât give it their all. It was a great win for Galway for that, if nothing else.
I wrote about this before in a previous incarnation on another forum. There have been 130 finals in the hurling championship. All bar 18 have included a representative from what is known as the big 3. Yesterday was the first final since 1996 not to have a big 3 team. Broadly speaking almost all of the breakthrough wins for counties (roughly put, counties who havenât won an All Ireland in 20 years) have come against non big 3 counties. Laois in 1915, Limerick in 1973 are exceptions to this. So, that Clare beat Laois in 1915, Waterford beat Dublin in 1948, Wexford beat Galway in 1955, Galway beat Limerick in 1980, Offaly beat Galway in 1981, Clare beat Offaly in 1995 and Wexford beat Limerick in 1996.
In other words yesterday was possibly a once in a generation opportunity for both teams to play a final against a team with whom there was no tradition and no baggage. Galway grasped it and good luck to them. The weight of history suggests that having made a breakthrough they can but not necessarily will go on to be a formidable force.
For Waterford the future is not so clear. We might get another fluke championship in the next couple of years and find ourselves in a final without Cork, Kilkenny or Tipperary and we might then take our chance. But even that is not guaranteed. You only have to think of Limerick 94-96 to see that chances can pass deserving teams by.
My heart is broken for him.
Iâm delighted for the likes of @KinvarasPassion, @Lazarus and @mikehunt though.
Drunk lad in a Galway jersey with arms aloft spotted on my stroll to work.
Sure itâs great to see people happy and enjoying themselves.
Enjoy it pal. The lovely mild euphoria. Like falling in love.
Jaysus, 'tis only a game, not a game of thrones.

Will be one disappointed at least
There always have been instances of great players for whom the big day just passes them by. Ciaran Carey in 1996 being the most glaring example of a whirlwind who becomes an irrelevance on the day.

He had a broken finger.
I took a wee cheap shot at Austin yesterday (for which I got a nice post, thanks broâs), but youâd have to feel a little for him nonetheless. While it was of his own doing, the furore over the helmet incident no doubt affected him, both after the semi final and during the game yesterday, where he no doubt allowed it get into his mind somewhat. Heâs a player who needs to be on the edge and maybe he just felt he couldnât be yesterday for whatever reason. I hope he gets another shot at it, but nothings guaranteed when youâre from a county outside the top 3.
I though Big Dx2 should have moved Aussie deeper during the second half. Let him come onto the ball from further out as he wasnât getting space upfield and wasnât making much of an impact. Especially so as Barron was ill and his runs from deep werenât going to be as much a factor as usual in the last quarter.
Yes . For most of the game he was under puckouts and dropping ball with GMI . The Galway management would have taken that all day .
