They beat us in 2005 alright, but it wasn’t a knockout game, was a round robin and we were both already through.

We needed to win that one to avoid the cats in the quarter final. Lost by a point

That’s fair enough, but it wasn’t a proper knockout match, Kilkenny weren’t as feared then as they are now.

I think the last time we played them in a knockout fixture was 81… which is mad considering the qualifiers have been around for a while, Galway always used to be in them and we tended to be too.
