Giving Galway the benefit of the doubt of seeing this one out, the 5 counties of Connacht will have 3 of the 8 places in the quarter final. That’s a remarkable 60% representation. The best the 9 counties of Ulster can have in the quarter final is 3 and 33.3% and that will require Division 3 Armagh beating Division 1 Kildare. Applying the @Nembo_Kid criteria in the space of a week Connacht has now presumably supplanted Ulster as the elite football province. Will @Nembo_Kid be able to hand this new found truth?

In previous years, you’ve advocated weight of numbers in the quarter final as the ultimate barometer of the strongest province. This weight of numbers in the last 12 is a new departure from you. Curious that you’re not applying the quarter final criteria this year and that you haven’t acknowledged this remarkable achievement for Connacht football and the current status of Connacht as the strongest province (applying your criteria). Galway gave Kerry a fair oul’ rattle in 2014 without ever really threatening to win.

This is a big rebound win for them but Kerry will now be forewarned.

The Galway debacles against Tipperary and Roscommon were both characterised by very slow starts which had them all but out of both games by 20 minutes. If they can avoid a bad start, they have a fighters chance against Kerry. Like nearly all Galway football sides, there’s plenty of natural footballing ability there.
