A great day for Ulster football. Two terrific matches, great wins for Monaghan and Armagh and some wonderful football from Down with huge scope for improvement for next year.

It’s going to be a great day out at Croke Park next Saturday with four of the five most knowledgeable sets of supporters in Ireland gathered together.

Dublin have friendly rivalries with both Monaghan and Armagh and Tyrone have bitter rivalries with Monaghan and Armagh so the final set of All-Ireland quarter-finals are going to be blockbusters whichever way the draw goes.

Anyone know the name of the song Sky played with the closing montage?

Jamie Clarke is one of the last great showmen by the way

The quarter-final draw will take place on RTE Radio 1 between 3:30pm and 4pm tomorrow.

1-14 from play for Armagh this evening.

Real Gaelic football.

Real forwards.

You get a higher quality of points from Ulster players.

It is. Ecen with the falsifying of numbers its obviously dying

Very enjoyable game. Best championship since?

They got great scores, didn’t they?

Off the top of my head Murnin, McParland, Campbell, Clarke and Rafferty all got points out of the very top drawer.

Add that to exceptional scores in the first game from the likes of Connaire Harrison, Shay Millar, Kevin McKernan, Conor Maginn, Conor McManus, the Cues brothers and Conor McCarthy and it was a real festival of top class Ulster score-taking.

Murnin is such a danger, the panic that sets in the opposition when the ball is pumped in is noticeable.

Clarke is some footballer, his movement is goochesque

Fucking hell. What a kick in the nuts that performance was, the last 10 minutes were a shambles. For all the progress in the last year, this is an awful way for the year to finish up.

Well done @Nembo_Kid, the Armagh support was brilliant.

Cian O’Neill was waving his players forward near the end and theyall stayed back. They looked dead on their feet toward the end.

James Morgan was tremendous and the referee was very harsh on him a number of times.

Super Championship.

Should we just thank Dublin or credit all managers for a change in attitude?

What i theorize is happening is they are building attacking first and then having a looser sweeping just moving back when needed.

Peter Canavan has been pointing out very well recently the difference between a good sweeper and an ineffective one. Its critical to have a ball player who can be a true soccer style sweeper. Donaghy was excellent today at it.

Another thing that is more from hurling i think is the no.6 just plays 6, kinda like Cian Sull. But floats back quick once opposition cross a certain point.

I still think you need that with modern rules.

Great games though. Been a breath of fresh air.
