Seriously though, I couldnāt get this Kildare thing at all. Armagh are limited, but driven, and in championship football at this stage it can often be enough.
Itās their media profile people read too much into. Cian o neill being involved with a few big teams. Feely back from the socccer and a few lads back from oz.

Kildare looked tge limited team today. Much more football to Armagh.
Theyāre coming, have no doubt, but the Dublin based media are desperate for a Leinster team to rise and CON and this young side appeared perfect to hitch the wagon to. Iād be very open minded when it comes to Kildare football obviously, but anyone could see they have serious potential. Saying that it matters not a jot, itās still all about the big two.
That was my original point, hours before the game threw in.
Armagh were full measure for their win but theyāre a distance off All-Ireland material yet.
This kildare side has athleticism, raw ability and a bit of potential star quality. However they are brain dead on decision making. They should have won through to the quarters this evening but fucked it up. Bad wides. Bad shots. Bad frees. Bad 5 yard hand passing. Bad tackling.
Theyāre young, Iāll give them a pass, this year.
Thatās it in a nutshell, their single biggest fault. The amount of times in tonightās game and against Dublin that they lost the ball when making bad choices with hand passing at speed. Also, Conway killed a great chance for a goal at one stage, he took a point while completely ignoring overlapping attackers bursting through.

Yes, the key point is that the word sweeper is a fallacy for football. He is not playing behind the last line of defence to prevent goals but is playing between the full and half lines to cut out supply, be the prime short kickout target and be the chief playmaker in his own half. That has to be a player with pace and confidence on the ball. We have been trying to match these requirements for a few years now at club and county underage. Not always easy to get the right player or two for it. A positive attitude is critical together with work rate.

No scrubbing around in the last 12 for Roscommon. Roscommon are straight into the All Ireland last 8 by virtue of winning the Connacht Championship.

The bottom line is a lot of second tier mediocrity have played out a few decent contests in the last month or so. At the end of the day, like the hurling championship we will unfortunately need to see the semis to judge where the sport is at .

I never thought Iād say this but I feel sorry for the hurling fraternity that they donāt have days like this.

Tyrone are not going to beat a top side like Kerry or Dublin, which i think they have to, to make final.
They canāt meet Kerry until the final.
Dublin have to win their quarter final against Monaghan or Armagh to have a chance of meeting Tyrone.
