A Barry John Keane type sub for either Mayo/Roscommon was sadly lacking and arguably wouldâve made a difference.
You said that Kildare were comfortably an 8 point better team and the only way Armagh would survive a hammering was to batten down the hatches, which they didnât do.
You also told us Tyrone have no chance of an AI this year so youâre clearly contradicting yourself.
Donie Smith came on and kicked some nice points for Roscommon.
GAA have just tweeted that Mayo-Roscommon replay will be on Bank Holiday Monday in Croke Park.
They should have played it in Galway. It wonât draw more than the capacity of Pearse Stadium and the atmosphere will be shit.
Strange call. What kind of crowd would be expected for that stand alone fixture?
Come on Tyrone.
25-30k max.
Bat shit crazy call.
Alan Milton talking about âturning people awayâ if the replay was played at a provincial venue.
Nonsense.
Replays of these sorts of matches if Dublin are not involved always draw smaller crowds.
People complained that Limerick wouldnât take the crowd for the 2014 Kerry-Mayo replay and only 36k turned up.
Pearse Stadium would have been full for the replay of this and the atmosphere would have been miles superior. Croke Park with 30k is like a morgue.
Galway not an option with the Races tbf.
Where else was suitable?
Corporate GAA dictates that all these matches have to go ahead in Croke Park. 10 year season ticket holders, premium level etc.
Itâs stupid. Imagine the boost to the local economy if, for argument sake, the replay went ahead in Breffni Park, Salthill (ok, theyâve race week), Pairc Sean Mac Diarmaida or anywhere else. There was a great buzz when the Kerry - Mayo replay in 2014 went to the Gaelic Grounds.
Community based organisation my hole. All about the Euros these days and has been for quite some time.
I donât see why Galway wouldnât have been an option.
The races finish on Sunday and theyâve tapered off by then anyway - the peak days are Wednesday to Saturday.
The game would have been played on the Monday.
Itâs not as if many people would have needed to stay in Galway for it - Mayo and Roscommon are adjacent counties and Galway is easy to get to and from if youâre coming from Dublin.
Races finish next Sunday. Could have played it in Galway on Bank Holiday Monday. Thereâd be a real buzz around town after the Galway hurlers winning next Sunday.
Pairc Ui Chaoimh is ready and able
Max capacity?
No more than 15k.
Limerick is a fair trek for both Counties so Croke Park probably as close.
Itâd be shit in an empty Croker though.
