People seem to be labouring under the impression that Small goaded Vaughan into it. Vaughan came charging in like a fool and clattered into him. It wasnât cute from Small. It was just stupid from Vaughan.
devious scumbag > simpleton
wtf?
vaughan came out of nowhere and flattened him
The person who threw the dig is a simpleton and the person who was assaulted is a scumbag. Muldoon logic.
Small was cute in that he didnât react. Took his clatter, and played the situation as well as he could. It was a no brainer, but donât underestimate the brainpower of the majority of footballers.
Worth mentioning, the sheer and utter pressure than seemed to be on every single play today. Its easy to take cheap shots (as I do), but you have to have supreme respect for anyone who can carry out even basic functions in that maelstrom.
I doubt he was hurt or needed the attention that he got. He may have exaggerated the strike more than normal. You seem to have missed the part where I said Vaughan was utterly stupid and made it easy for the ref.
backtrack
looking forward to mcstays bitterness
that wasnt a free in after doherthys miss
Penalty Joe.
I can find common ground with that form of words. But I donât think it was a massive exaggeration. And Iâd say he was probably more concerned about avoiding his own card.
You are going really well to have the most posts on both all Ireland final threads. Plus watching all of both games and now about to enjoy watching the highlights show too like you did after the hurling.
Youâre a true Gael pal.
just saw the clothes line again
ouch
Maybe so. But he could just as easily stood up and took Vaughan on. Falling down to preserve himself or to take Vaughan, either way shows a clever mentality not to react. Much better than Vaughan at least.
It was just so needless.
Mayo had just been awarded a handy free in and Small was just about to receive a second yellow. The ref had seen it and was going to send him off.
Then Vaughan wades in with an act of lunacy. Just donât push him/connect with him in the head. Now Small knew full well what he was it, knew he was about to be dismissed and milked the foul for all it was worth to ensure it would be 14 v 14. Ref always going to even the numbers up given the chance.
But ultimately it was Vaughan who was responsible for getting himself sent off. Brain dead.
That Dessie Dolan is an awful fool.
Surely the role of a co-commentator is to tell us about all the switches which occur off the ball particularly at the start.
Not a mention of anything by Dessie.
It took a good 20 minutes for me to establish Brendan Harrison was on OâGara.
Another penalty Joe.
clearly not a penalty
Chris Barrett very poor for the Rock goal chance.
