I think the general idea is to promote longer kick-outs and rewarding high fielding.
From what Iāve seen so far, it hasnāt done that really.

The mark was a completely ham fisted concept. The powers that be had this utopian idea that it would lead to a return of the Mick OāConnell era of midfield high fielding, ignoring the mass crowding that now happens as the half forward line and even full forward line are dragged back.
Ciaran Kilkennyās attempts to kick points in the second half were pitiful.
He should have played a lateral handpass instead of shooting.
What date is the Dublin v Kerry final of this competition down for?
Can we just run off the all Ireland semis next week Kerry v Mayo & Dublin v Tyrone . One feels the whole league and championship is a procession .

Some overrated Kerry intermediate divisional team who Kev says would win the Tyrone senior title
Over 16,000 people at Breffni Park today to see the Harlem Globetrotters of Gaelic football in action.
Bigger crowd than 80% of the qualifiers?
Bigger crowd than pretty much every qualifier.
You might get around 25k for a Round 4 double header at Croke Park but thatās two matches.
The only stand alone qualifier of recent years I can think of that attracted more than 16k is the Kerry-Tyrone game in Killarney in 2012.
Maybe some of the Dublin ones in 2010 too but Dublin arenāt going to be gracing the qualifiers again for a long time.
Great attendance in fairness. Same in Castlebar last night 11k
And 300 in Thurles to see last yearās All-Ireland semi-finalists open their league campaign.
The Tipperary public just canāt get enough of their team.
RTEās website really is a wonderful service.

A rare breed
Actual attendance 722, wonder what the largest attendance will be at next weekās division 3 hurling league matches.
Then again there isnāt a team who reached the All-Ireland semi-final last year playing Division 3 hurling.
Well done to Antrim for bringing down several hundred supporters today.
Itās is hurling county pal, never going to change, the footballers have their hardcore supporters, if they were playing Kerry in a Division 1 match there would be a bigger attendance.
Definitely. 724, Iād say.
At least.
No wankers with sombreros though.
League Sunday has just started on RTE2.
I saw Paul Geaneyās two goals on the news - his dummy solo for the second goal was tremendous. Heās a class act.
