Quite apart from the important business of winning a test match and the Millennium Trophy, the win yesterday and other results ensured Ireland stayed at Number 4 in the world rankings and secured a top seeding in the upcoming World Cup draw for the first time.
New Zealand, England, Australia and Ireland will be the top seeds.
Scotland, France, Wales and South Africa will be second seeds.
Argentina, Fiji, Japan and Georgia will be third seeds.

Yeah he’s a good player was an outstanding talent in schools and at u 20 level. He’s not international class winger though and don’t think he’s better full back than Payne or Zebo.

Ireland faced the possibility of dropping to 5th in the rankings depending on the permutations of the final series of matches. Apparently the players didn’t know the outcome of the France v Wales match going out on the field. It was withheld from them to keep them utterly focused on the task at hand and produce a must win mindset.
