@Chucks_Nwoko and @Tank have hopefully gotten over the initial disappointment and are looking forward to the trip to Galway. At least there’s a 2 week gap to build up again.
Beggan and O’Connell were unreal and McManus was superb after a mixed display last week. I thought Monaghan definitely had it when O’Connell scored that cracking point late on after playing the ball to Manus who slid out to win it on the ground, wriggled back up and hand passed to O’Connell again. Some pace, drive and fitness in O’Connell to take the return pass before kicking it over.
Clifford’s finish was also incredible. He kind of had to stroke it with a bit of sharp curl to bend it into the far corner rather than drilling it to avoid the keeper and players on the line. The skill and composure to do that was also unreal.
It highlights the generally poor standard of finishing for goal chances. Most players just sort of pull the trigger in any way they can rather than pick their spot deliberately.
Baps has been at a professional academy with top trainers, coaches, dieticians and s&c guys for years. Clifford has had to become a man over night and is the greatest fistyball player of all time already.
