Phil was lucky in that there was only John Part and Barney to challenge him,the standard of his opponents back then was poor.

Taylor was still class when there was competition. When he retired he was still hitting around 100 average.
Van Gerwen had to ask who his first round opponent was. Thatās just prickish.

Donāt get me wrong Taylor was one of the greats but he was probably the first proper professional dart player.But if he was starting out today thereās no way heād win 16 world titles.

He would only win 3 or 4 if lucky. The standard was cat for years when you look at who he beat in the finals, barney and part apart.
Taylor won most of the early titles without barely dropping a set. I donāt think heās one of the greats but easily the greatest.
