2022 FIFA World Cup (Part 1)

Classic from Caicedo, carrying him off the pitch :joy:

Pushing him off

The groups of 4 with 3 games are vastly superior to the groups of 3 with home and away ties.

He looked like the effort was about to make him collapse

Why the fuck didn’t they send the keeper up for those corners instead of having the daft cunt staying put covering his eyes unable to watch.

Senegal bodies on line

Hon Senegal. Well deserved

Aliou Cissè is the coolest motherfucker at the entire tournament.

It would have quietened John Kenny too after he said he could only watch on. At the time I was thinking he was surely going to nod home a corner at the death just to sicken Kenny. It was like Kenny had never heard of a goalkeeper scoring from a last ditch corner before.

Mendez was a big loss for Ecuador in midfield, Valencia looked lame.

Senegal are workmanlike, it’s an awful pity that Mané isn’t there.

What’s the bet with our free PP 5 euro? I suppose hold for the lineups but Wales 1-0 is close to a banker?

Wales will be raped

If the keeper doesn’t go up for a corner or a free kick with the game in the balance like that, knockout game, he should be shot! Has to get up there and cause confusion.

I said the same to the dog, he wasn’t interested though

So England bring in Walker, Henderson, Foden and Rashford for Trippier, Mount, Sterling and Saka. Saka being left out is strange.

Wales obviously have to bring in Ward for Hennessy; they’ve also brought in Joe Allen & Dan James for Roberts & Wilson.

So England look to be going:

Pickford
Walker Stones Maguire Shaw
Henderson Rice
Foden Bellingham Rashford
Kane

It is more conservative.

Wales switching from a 5 to a 4-3-3.

Ward
Williams Mepham Rodon Davies
Ramsey Ampadu Allen
Bale Moore James

No legs in that midfield at all. James gives you a bit of pace up top alright, but Walker should be able to manage him if he’s fit. Just back from injury though.

Rashford & Foden also have huge pace on the counter-attack and Bellingham well able to carry the ball.

Beiranvand back in goal for Iran, I thought the other fella Hosseini did well against Wales.

Other than that, looks like the same team that played against Wales. Taremi, Azmoun, Gholizadeh all in attack, they could hurt the US with those. It depends on their outlook though; if they sit in and defend like Ecuador did, I think that would suit the US.

Josh Sargent back in for Wright up top for USA. Cameron Carter-Vickers replaces Zimmerman at centre-back aswell. Little bit surprising, in that he did fine against England, was very comfortable.

Probably the more interesting contest on paper.
