2022 FIFA World Cup (Part 1)

Ange and Harry Kewell should be having a word alright. The Aussies are way more than the sum of their parts.

The back four in their opening game was Hearts, Hearts, ex Hearts, Dundee United.

Then Mooy and Irvine (Celtic, ex Celtic journeyman in front of them) McGree who turned down Celtic last winter to join Middlesboro’ as the attacking mid, two wide A League lads and is Duke the striker A League too?

It might be the least talented squad on paper, but they’ve got that Aussie determination and belief.

Some great Scottish names in this Aussie team.

Mathew Leckie, Riley McGree, Jackson Irvine, Harry Souttar. World War II names.

Sounds familiar

Oh right, thanks for info. He reminded me of that Brett Emerton (spelling?) in terms of rangy wide man with strong running etc.

I can’t believe how well they’re doing. Although to be fair to them they were competitive with a limited squad in 2014 and 2018 as well. Just goes to show what is possible at international level. Even ousting Peru in the play-offs was a huge achievement for them.

Penalty but offside :joy:

Can it be a penalty if its offisde ? He’s blown for the penalty

Cornelius is an absolute wasteman.

Australias performance puts spock to shame

Thought the Danes would be so much better than this.

He was at Cardiff years back wasn’t he? They really are lacking a goalscorer. Surely Poulsen is better than him?

Australia going to 5 at the back now it looks like.

You’d feel for the Tunisians if a win over France proves to not be enough

Denmark are really following through on their anti Qatar stance. So much so they really aren’t trying to be there for the next week

Have Tunisia ever had a world class footballer? Asking for my daughter who’s doing a project, I’ve never heard of any of the guys who appear in a quick google search.
Any interesting fact about the Tunisian football team, looks like she got the(a) short straw

Hatem Trabelsi is the only Tunisian to ever play for Man City.

Got his only goal in a derby. Not sure you’d get an essay from that

Poor oul Eriksen is surrounded by a lot of damn average players on this Danish team.

They’re regulars at the world cup since the 90s but never got out of the group. Probably as boring a history as you could have

I have to admit to vastly overating Denmark

No.

Khazri is decent, Trabelsi & Jaidi were handy.
