would be unreal. Stables in UL back in 2015 on the night we beat Germany was electric. We’re a country starved of an adventure in a major tournament. The World Cup is just that bit more special than the Euros.

After the Spain shoot out in 2002 my friend put his fist through a window in the door of the pub. He then took off running cause the publican was a bit of a hot head. We had to track him down by following a trail of blood across a field. We brought him back to the pub, bandaged him up and drank on for the rest of the day.

We need more days like that.

If the ball was six feet above the ground, people’s perception would be different of what’s in or not.

You’d draw a perfectly vertical line down from the equator of the ball to the line.

With the Japan goal tonight, the part of the football that touches the ground being over the line is irrelevant. It’s whether the equator of the ball is over the line or not, not the south pole of it (though this is not a perfect analogy as the earth’s axis is tilted).

I think with dross like Belgium and Germany out we’re going to see far better knock out round of 16 games.

For the Cameroon game we stayed in the pub all night. The publican left around 3, told us where the sausages were and said to leave a few quid by the till if he wasn’t back to watch the match.
