Marseille v Benfica gone to extra-time. Marseille seek revenge for the 1990 European Cup semi-final when they were eliminated on away goals by a Dublin style back post palmed goal.
Was that the Swedish (Magnusson)guy up front? They had a good team, beat Arsenal in 92 also
I don’t remember much about that Benfica team at all bar Sven was managing them. Marseille had Waddle, Papin and Enzo Francescoli and would have been better final opponents for AC Milan.
Benfica had a guy Isaias who destroyed Arsenal at Highbury in extra-time. My memory of that tie is inextricably tied to the death of Robert Maxwell.
Would have been nice to beat them. Ran out of steam and the ref rode us. Ah well.

Benfica are one of the few sides who can claim to have been the better team v Milan in a European cup final. They played really well that night. Had a big Swedish guy up front who was a pure handful
Hammers played really well tonight, Bowen had a rare off night in front of goal. Leverkusen needed last minute og to stay unbeaten.
