2023 PDC World Darts Championship & Q School 2023

On another note the annual end of tournament montage was very shoddily put together.

This one will never be topped.

The Smith 9 darter, you really can’t get better entertainment than that.

The Sky Sports lads can’t help themselves but overhype everything. It was a game with the greatest leg of darts but not the best ever.

Peak darts was mid 2010s when you had Taylor averaging 108-112, Barney could go close, Gary Anderson just getting going, peak Whitlock, Lewis, Wade, up and coming MVG.

There were some other characters in that video like Painter, Terry Jenkins who were fierce likeable too. Jenkins bully bully entrance was legendary.

Taylor patting Jenks on the head and being a condescending bastard"Terry knows he can play better!" Great times.

I remember him being at the Worlds a few years back and looking like a serious prospect - did he do a stretch between then and recently?

Goes into detail here

A former round 2 or 3 jobber in the worlds. Did he leave darts for a while or get dropped back

Hoping to hear about success for Chuck Norris, Big Hendo, Scotty Dog and Wexford’s Jason Cullen.

Jelle Klaasen is currently World Number One on the sporting side of the game and he looks a live contender to add his second World Professional title on December 10th next at Lakeside.

Lost his card in 2017 and hasn’t won it back since.

I think only 3 players have won their tour card back straight away after losing it. (Lost in December and won back in January)

A tour card will rule him out of that.

He looked a bit pissed the last few times I seen him playing. The amount of functioning alcoholics in darts is pretty high I’d say.

I’d say Mr Cadby could be after a few this morning.

The early start could catch out a few players.

On the board for 10am

Isn’t it a bit unusual there’s no top class Irish darts player ? It’s very popular in Ireland and a fair amount of pub leagues etc etcz

It’s hard to make a proper go at it if you’re in Ireland. Without sponsorship you’ll struggle. Lot of expense in travelling over to the UK and Europe for the Pro Tour and Euro Tour.

If you get bate first round on the Pro Tour you don’t get any prize money.

If you don’t do well on the Pro Tour you won’t get into the spots for the majors. There’s 30 Pro Tours a season.

Radek Szaganski is from Poland but living in Cork. He picked up 16.5k in prize money in the season just gone. He’d be down money after all the travel and expenses so still needs a job. He’s driving for Bus Eireann. Willie O’Connor is #37 in the World and is still doing a bit of carpentry I think.

Dylan Slevin is from Offaly and I’d be surprised if he didn’t get a card this week. Jelle Klaasen beat him in the Irish Open final in Killarney. (Jelle got 4k and Dylan got 2k and that would be the biggest event in the Irish calendar)

Mike Flynn from Carrigkerry is a dark horse to get a card this week.

If you were going over this week and funding it yourself I’d say you wouldn’t have much change out of 3k.
