Arsenal: They could probably still do with another No.9 but hunger is a great sauce and they must be desperate for major success after finishing runners-up twice in succession. The age profile is very good and they’re starting to resemble Liverpool around 2018 but without the dog in them to succeed in the Champions League I would say. If Man City dip at all then I believe they’re best placed. I’ll be bold and back the Gunners who’ve improved steadily each of the past 3 years under Arteta. Arteta has been backed to the hilt financially and will feel the pressure to really deliver. They’ll sneak one soon I’d say.

Man City: Hunger might be quenched a slight bit by winning a the 4 in a row. The 115 charges and court case may build a siege mentality which could act as a positive in the title race. Talk of Pep leaving in 2025 which adds to the uncertainty. As it stands their squad is weaker than last season after losing Alvarez but I’m sure they’ll be back in the market this week.

Liverpool: I was apprehensive about the post-Klopp era as recently as May but the soundbites emanating out of the club this summer are quite positive. It sounds like the players are enjoying Slot’s style and the 5 attacking options are still the envy of the league. Bit vulnerable defensively if anything were to happen to Virgil. Comfortably the 3rd best team in the league though.

Spurs: The second-half of the season may have been somewhat of a disappointment but 5th wasn’t bad overall for Big Ange given he inherited a team who were just about to lose their talisman and had to endure an injury crisis. Big Dom Solanke could rectify the lack of a number 9 and I reckon they’ll just about hold off RVN’s Man United for 4th.

Man United: Optimism abounding from the capture of young Lenny Yoro but I’m going to go bold and predict that Ten Hag will be gone by January at the latest, this will subsequently result in a new manager bounce under interim manager Ruud who leads them on a charge to a Champions League spot thanks to the improved English performance in that competition with Liverpool back involved. RVN is then made permanent in a sequence of events not too dissimilar to OGS in 2018-19.

Aston Villa: Unai Emery’s stint with Sevilla is probably the best comparison here. Often found themselves languishing in 7th/8th but would go and win silverware in the Europa or cup competitions. They’ll probably end up with a hugely challenging Champions League group. If the 3rd placed dropping into the Europa scenario still exists in the new European structure then I could see them winning the Europa League this season. But I have an inkling that there’s some preliminary knockout ties now or something of that ilk. Lost Douglas Luiz and Moussa Diaby. They’ll win the League Cup.

Palace: Glassner had them absolutely purring late last season. They’ve lost Olise since but I reckon they’ll still have enough to make a claim for this seasons surprise package. A first top 10 finish of the Premier League era beckons.

West Ham: A fine starting 11 at present following the summer additions of Summerville and Fullkrug but for some reason The Hammers tend to underperform when fancied. 2006/07 being a classic of the genre. I’m not as sold on Lopetegui as others. He was ran out of Real and the Spanish national team fairly lively.
I think relegation is between four teams. Leicester, Ipswich, Southampton and Forest. Everton are too solid to be sucked into it this time, Fulham are too good, Brighton, Wolves and Bournemouth are unlikely to be in trouble either I reckon. Apparently Leicester are likely to face an impending points deduction which could mean they come a cropper. Southampton will go straight back down you’d imagine. Although I was completely vindicated in saying in 2023 that Will Smallbone would be in a higher division the following year if he rejected the advances of Sheff Utd. Ipswich are very similar to Luton last season with a feel good story and a promising young manager. They might just catch Forest who have been incredibly haphazard in the market since their return to the Premier League in 2022.

This it for them mate, City are hungering only Champions League and Liverpool are resetting. It’s now or never for Mikel. They are a big strong team. I thought they’d beat Bayern and was a bit dioma with them. I’d say they’ll do it this time and Saka will be Footballer of the Year. They’re not the most brilliant but they are highly functional and generally pulverise smaller teams.
I’d love to see @BruidheanChaorthainn prediction. He’d surely have Liverpool in 14th at Christmas.
