2024/2025 Premier League - The Drive for 5 (city losses in a row?)

2025 will be 1977. 2026 will be 1979.

I’ve never been born in a year when Nottingham Forest have not won the European Cup.

Arsenal won five league titles between 1989 and 2004 and in four of those seasons they won at Anfield. The only exception was a 4-0 beating Liverpool handed out to them three days after Arsenal had clinched the championship by beating Everton 4-0 in May 1998.

An Anders Limpar-inspired Arsenal going to Anfield and beating Liverpool 2-0 the day Dublin beat Clare in August 1992 was widely seen as a statement victory by the heavy title favourites. Instead it was a footnote of history as Arsenal slumped to a 10th place finish, four places behind a very mediocre Graeme Souness-managed Liverpool team. It’s another of the “misleading results” genre that I love.

Arsenal did win the two domestic cups but their season was best remembered for Tony Adams dropping Steve Morrow off his shoulder and breaking Morrow’s arm so badly that it had to be amputated.

His intimidation of the referees was an element in him being a brilliant manager.

Some fella round here thinks that’s a new phenomenon that started with the likes of Jurgen Klopp.

Fernandez doing his best to avoid playing at Anfield.

There must be AIDS in the water in Manchester. They’ll be fighting it out for 14th and 15th place come April.

And yet still not the biggest charlatan on the pitch

They fought hard there second half in fairness to them. It could be time to go back to the 4-2-3-1. The team needs to take their medicine and sit back, soak up pressure and counter. They look more solid with the 3 cbs, but they’ve no goal threat.

Says it all really, Doherty who can’t run was comfortable. Garnacho isn’t very quick either tbh.

How far away are we from United looking over their shoulders?

Probably should buy Cunha in Jan to be sure!
