youâve lost me brah
Absolute savages !
They pronounce royal like rugby commentator Nugentâs first name
And they always preface it with the name of a popular Japanese car manufacturer
Meath people are not civically minded.
Meath seem to have very little presence in the GGA online discussion communities that I would have been familiar with, their last era ending around the same time as the advent of various forums. They seem like hateful bastards so maybe this will change as I feel they would be a worthy addition
I think they have their own HoganStand forum still. The founder is from Meath I believe.
They had the great Hardyarse The Fiddler back in the day.
Hogan Stand is a Meath bastion
Ooooft.
Darragh and Jack were never friends. Tommy goes in two footed.
Darragh mentions it in the column.
Youâd forget how godawful this was
You bury a lad when you get the chance.
In comparison to this
I love that upward dispossession out of a players grasp.
This Meath team will fear absolutely fucking nobody after their scalps. Hopefully Jim gets his tactics right and they get executed accordingly. A lot of this season has boiled down to how much is in the legs going down the stretch, bar some exceptional performances like SOSâs completely dismantling a team almost single-handedly in periods. How much do Meath have left in the tank physically. Was their winter training engineered that theyâd be coming into their peak around about now? Iâd highly doubt it. Can they lift it mentally again and again to win a semi final? Big questions around this Donegal team too. Ryan McHugh having a very quiet year. Paddy McBrearty looking well past it in most games, Oisin Gallen not fully firing this season, and two of our high fielders in Jason McGee and McGonagle struggling for fitness. Patton, for all his talents has at least a costly blunder in him in every match.
However, there are the positives. Murphy is a revelation in his comeback year and has surprised everyone with the amount of game time heâs managed to be able for. Shane O Donnell and Brendan McCole having a ridiculous year. Incredible talents in Finbar Roarty and Ciaran Moore.
This semi final could go either way. Here are two teams throughout the year who have refused to bow out when the chips are down, and it could be a big match. Meath facing an Ulster opposition in the white heat of championship will be a different challenge but one theyâll be confident approaching, especially with an Ulster coach.
Fear the Royal.
Fear the fuck out of them.
I wouldâve preferred Kerry tbh, but the fans are delighted to make it this far after a very barren period outside of the provincials since Jimâs last tenure. I know very little about this Meath team, which I suppose says a lot of their meteoric rise this season. Great to see. I hope they win the next ten Leinster championships. Iâd be fucking delighted.
Ah you canât mean that. Kerry have the highest ceiling of all the remaining teams if they replicate that second-half display against Armagh. Meath reached semi-finals in 2007 and 2009 after scalping Tyrone and Mayo and were well beaten in said semi-finals. Those teams wouldâve had comparable forwards to the current crew with the likes of Stephen Bray, Joe Sheridan, Brian Farrell and a veteran Graham Geraghty too. It wasnât the start of any great renaissance but this team have a younger age profile and for the first time since SeĂĄn Boylan, a proper manager. Youâd hope the murmurings of some rumours about his time with Crokes donât derail the thing at any stage.
Hereâs where the thinking comes from. Facing Kerry in a semi final I believe would be less psychologically daunting for this Donegal team than Kerry in an all ireland final. We most likely have to beat them if we wish to win an all ireland. Iâd have preferred to face Meath or Tyrone in a final.
