He’s fired up
He’s very self obsessed. It’s not a good trait.
Dartmas is finally upon us.
World #1 and defending Champion Luke Humphries gets his campaign underway tonight vs the winner of Tricole and Comito. Thibault will have too much for Comito but his luck will run out there as Cool Hand Luke should have too much for him later in the night. Of those to keep on side, Wesley Plaisier and Luke Humphries would be an interesting game in R4 should it happen. Wesley has made 3 Pro Tour finals and won 1 of them becoming fourth player to win a Players Championship event without being a PDC tour card holder. In the lower half of the quarter, Connor Scutt and Damon Heta should be a great game with the winner likely facing Mike De Decker in R3. Dirk van Duijvenbode is an interesting one, he was battling an injury early in the year but has been showing signs of a return to form in recent times. Peter Wright looks to be a beaten docket.
Sky and the PDC will be hoping Sherrock can beat Ryan Meikle in their R1 tie to setup a clash with Littler in R2 but I don’t see it happening. Littler should have a clear run to the Quarter Final in his half of the quarter. The lower half is a bit more stacked. Scott Williams and Rob Cross were beaten in the semis last year. I’ve been a fan of Gian van Veen for a while and he’d fancy his chances vs Williams or Cross in R3 should they meet. Menzies should get past Gates and I wouldn’t be too confident on Aspinall’s chances vs Menzies. The Asp has recently admitted he is fighting Dartitis and that’s far from ideal when heading into the biggest tournament of the year. Littler to win the section.
This section is the most wide open, a few recognisable names but they haven’t been doing the business on the oche this year. The odds compilers are going 4/1 the field on who is to win this quarter and I’m going to go with Wessel Nijman to win Q3 @ 9/2. Wessel got a ban in 2020 with half of it suspended due to match fixing in some online tournament during Covid. It looks like all he did during the ban was throw darts at home as his performances at the oche this year have been sensational. He won 7 Development Tour events this year and won his first senior PDC title in October. He qualified for the Grand Slam and despite not winning a game his scoring was superb. A real dark horse for this tournament. A mate has him backed @ 350/1 for a few quid each way earlier in the year. I was late to the party and took a bit of a lower price… Cullen, Price and Smith are not in great form. I’ll go for a Dobey vs Nijman in the QF with Wessel to get the win.
Last but not least, Q4 has 2 past winners in MVG and Gary Anderson. For all his dominance in the sport over the years, van Gerwen only won the World Championships 3 times. He’s after a bad year and the fear factor of facing him is definitely gone. His A game is up there with the 2 Lukes but he’s not doing it consistently anymore. MVG will leave chances. I’m a big fan of Gary Anderson in this section of the draw. Its 10 years since he won his first World Championship win and The Flying Scotsman is getting better with age. Averages since August 1st.
Chizzy can’t seem to do it on the big stage. The Magpie is my dark horse for this section. He’s playing some decent stuff and the draw isn’t the worst. Anderson to beat Willie in the QF.
I’m going with Anderson to win it out.

You’d see better doubling at the County trials.
