Are any of these Irish lads any good? I clicked on the results there today and saw some familiar faces like Robert Thornton and Richie Burnett. These lads would be way over the hill age wise and haven’t really been sighted on the biggest stage in 3-5yrs but Thornton particularly once made Darts Premier League id say.
Shane McGuirk won the WDF / BDO before Christmas.
John O’Shea did one stint in the tour but it was during Covid and travel restrictions didn’t help him. A sound fella too cc @Massey
Dean Finn Forde is decent.
The likes of Thornton, Burnett and John Part are likely using Q School for match practice. If you enter Q School you can play the Challenge Tour which is below the main tour. Thornton would be happy enough to tip away on that and play the seniors tour say. He’d get a few exhibitions then to keep him going.
John O’Shea won the World Masters in 2019. He was the King of the Circus Tavern in Purfleet.
One of the great Irish darting achievements.
They would all be excellent dart throwers and probably throw 14/15/16/17 dart legs at home in practice to bate the band. But to get to the top you have to do that day in day out in every leg against lads just as talented as you.Thats when the pressure comes on and some lads can’t hack it.The nerves kick in and your throw goes to shit.
When playing darts your not really playing anyone but yourself, getting from 501 to 0 as quickly as possible. You can’t do anything about the other players throw except put pressure on him by throwing well yourself.
Bunting looks like he’s shoving 60 but he’s actually shoving 40.
Formula wan heads are shitting it because they know that a lad like Gezzy has more charisma in one finger than their supposed superstars like Verstappen Jr has in his entire body. Littler might finish off motorsports for good.
I just realized why I could watch the darts for free. I have Sky F1 as part of some legacy thingy from ages ago before it went PPV. Sky F1 was changed to Sky Darts for the World Championship which must be why I could watch it. Channel 406 is back to Sky F1 now.
It would make you long for the comparatively charismatic days of Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen.

Dreams do come true at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes as Tom Bissell earns himself a tour card for the next 2 years.
Before this week Bissell had never played a PDC or WDF event. Never played Development Tour and this was his first time at Q School.
It would be like a better version of me going over to Q School and getting a card. Anyone can turn up and give it a go.
He had a tough run but the lad can play.
6-3 Jarred Cole (94.02)
6-4 Jamie Owens (87.59)
6-5 John Henderson (89.83)
6-5 Thomas Lovely (93.51)
6-3 James Howard Hughes (92.03)
6-3 Tom Sykes (85.21)
6-5 Bradley Brooks (92.63)
Did Mervyn king lose his card? I thought he was still playing to a very decent standard
Just lost his card so enters Q School at the finals stage.
No points for that though.
John O’Shea was best of the Irish on Day 1. He’s 13th on the table with 2 points.
I keep an eye on darts results fairly regularly and he seemed to be doing ok in player championships… still beating a good few of the big names… I suppose he hasn’t been on tv tournaments a whole lot the past few years but even looking at his averages in todays games tells you the competition is savage altogether…
