No sign of the cleaner today & no communication either.

She’s meant to clean from 9am-12pm every Wednesday.

We don’t trust her enough to give her a key & what relationship can survive when there’s a fundamental lack of trust?

She showed up at 11.20am last week but I’m fucking off to run some errands if she’s not here by midday.

She has to go

9am-12pm was to ensure the cleaning was completed after breakfast & before lunch in the current working from home environment. I’d pop out of the office* where I work when she would clean that room & so on. But this turning up at any time has serious unintended consequences. I’m not deferring my lunch until 2.30pm/3pm & I’m not being forced to buy lunch outside on days where I’ve prepared a hearty soup to eat at home. It’s fucking annoying when I’m sitting at the kitchen table having lunch while she’s arsing around with buckets, mops & sprays in the hall & adjacent rooms. Or even coming into the kitchen to get stuff. Absolutely no respect for boundaries, like a West Bank Jewish settler. It’s actually devastating.

You’re like a hostage in your own home now. It’s no way to live. Can you sell the property and move elsewhere.

Could you set her up on a date with sid? She’ll have to move to galway, obviously

Did she show up @Bandage?

No sign. I went out at midday to get my haircut & for a coffee. Back just before 1pm but no communication from her.

This ongoing episode has shaken my faith in the entire services/cleaning industry. Despite having the financial means to employ a cleaner, perhaps I need to become one of those oddballs who choose to change their own bedclothes & scrub their own showers like sir @glasagusban.

This is worse than that time roly’s bistro were slow to clear an adjacent table and just look at the ramifications that had.

A brief but powerful email/text/whatsapp/phonecall terminating the arrangement is all you need now. Dereliction of duty, poor timekeeping and your desire for a more efficient, reliable employee can all be communicated in a two (2) sentence message.
A brief thanks and good wishes for the future will salve your conscience…… Avoid any to and fro stuff……Terminate….

Do her looks come into this decision making?

So @Bandage - next Wednesday you should go work from somewhere else between 9-12 and see if she messages you that she can’t get in. If she doesn’t then she might get the message and just fuck off for herself.

You have her where you want her now after that non-appearance. Does she even clean the house to a good standard when she’s present?

I’d say @Bandage life partner has taken the bull by the horns here and taken care of this messy business by giving the cleaner her marching orders. @Bandage emasculated once more

Have you never watched a movie?

It’d start with @bandage broken and maybe dead before a flashback

UPDATE/FƓGRA:

My life partner was in business meetings in town this morning but she texted me a while ago to say the cleaner had sent her a message at 11.30am to advise she wouldn’t be coming today & asking if she could clean every Friday at 11am from now on.
