Tony already has the hotel in Dublin booked for Sunday July 31st and Armaghā€™s return to the All-Ireland final.

RIP.
His contribution to the INTERNET will live forever in the National Library

A little bit of the Irish internet died today
May Liam rest in peace

I hope that the East Clare cattle society will send a mass card.

Huh?

RIP, was a decent sort, he had to officiate plenty of wild rows but did it fairly.

Was he involved in the original clarehurlers? Or was that the OG of hurling and NFL forums/a

RIP AFR.

Seems very sudden as he was tweeting away up until yesterday.

Not sure what his plan for AFR initially was but it was a very early social experiment with some mad crack along the way. Took the boredom out of desk life.

Very gradually by the looks of things

Thatā€™s terrible. Heā€™d be a young enough man. Late 60s Iā€™d guess.

He started secondary school in 1954 according to LinkedIn so must have been closer to 80.

Thatā€™s sad news. RIP. I made some tolerable e-acquaintances thanks to AFR.

Thatā€™s sad news. We all wouldnā€™t be here without AFR.

RIP Liam

Was he your father?

My INTERNET journey started with Come on the Deise which was run by Tramore man, Niall Howard. Chucks brother Daddyo mentioned it to me at the Limerick match in 1999.

Come on the Deise linked to the GAAboard, where I had a home until Clarehurlers became known to me. Visually this was a big step up from the GAAboard which was very basic. Matt Purcell had set up Clarehurlers in the wake of Ennis being designated Irelands Internet town or something like that.

I think Matt Purcell took Clarehurlers down in or around 2004 and I moved over to AFR. AFR had been spamming Clarehurlers for ages.

I left AFR in 2010 when the fun police became too diligent and came over to tfk.

RIP,
I had mixed experiences with him, a few silly bannings and a strange email after he shut up shop accusing me of bad mouthing him on another forum, a case of mistaken identity, but a good sort, I always enjoyed listening to him on the radio etc, they were interesting times though.
Didnā€™t AFR benefit from an exodus from the original clarehurlers, someday somebody will write a book about us all

Anyway RIP.

Yes it did. It struggled badly until CH packed it in.

Never knew the man but have some fond memories of that site.
RIP

RIP Liam. He gave us a home for a while.

@Tassotti will surely attend the funeral

Jesus David Trimble and kkcat1 used to keep him up at night Iā€™d say.

RIP Liam. Hopefully in his will he might put an archive of the site back online

There were a heap of cunts, similar to here that were obsessed with seeing hiw far they could push libel laws in ordervto be ā€˜edgyā€™ and win Internet battles with the safety of anonymity.

As the number of users increases on any platform that sort of rubbish surges up. Most of us are here for discussion or debate thankfully.

AFR couldnā€™t handle the growth im the end and the gobshites that relied on the platform to give oxygen to their odd behaviour were suddenly left with nowhere to go bar Twitter or here.
