BDO is like high school and college football, while PDC is like CFL and Arena football
Joking and all aside, the grassroots of darts is in the BDO. It is steeped in the culture of darts, camaraderie, the very best of order, the family, the ladies game.
The PDC represents a group of mercenaries who decided to bite the hand that fed them and break off and do their own thing. They rely on the BDO to provide them with players. The BDO are in the pubs all around the world, the PDC are in their ivory tower with their elitism. They have turned their backs on what they grew up with in favour of beer up louts singing chants about Ya Ya Toure, Barry Hearn, pretend fights between players, while fumbling in Sky’s greasy, hyped up till.
Naturally you can understand players wanting to join, as the PDC is backed by serious money. As a result you have much better matches and a much higher quality.
But as Scotty Waites says ‘If your love of darts is about money then join the PDC. I’m not like that’.
You can’t help but admire such a person.
