First touch tonight smacks of a player shot of confidence. Spurs were playing a shit team tonight and he made very little impact. AVB is a cunt alright.
Lamela was very poor under Enrique who played a similar style game to Villas Boas. I wasn’t expecting much from him at the beginning of last season as we didn’t see his quality but it goes to show what a change in manager and system can do for a player. He was absolutely immense under Zeman, he is a superb dribbler and a wonderful athlete and he will score goals by the barrell load - he just needs the right system and the a manager who wants to utilise his qualities.
I’ve seen him a couple of times this season for Spurs and he keeps receiving the ball with his back to goal out on the wing with the opposition doubling up on him. He’s never going to achieve anything in that kind of a system. He needs to play in an expansive and direct attacking team, he needs the ball played early to him so he can run turn and run at the opposition. I really abhor teams who play this possession style football. It’s cowardly and boring.
