That was embarrassing for Kilkenny. You’d have to go back to 1937 to find the last time Kilkenny lost an All Ireland Final by more. A 9th defeat for Coach Cody in his last 9 championship matches.

Tipperary were brutal first 20-25 minutes. A good Kilkenny team would have buried them by then. The game had turned though before the sending off with the O’Meara goal.
