All Ireland Football Championship

With the Championship starting this Sunday, I thought it might be a good idea to get a few predictions for the Provincial and All Ireland Championships - here goes my tuppence worth :

Connacht Champions = Mayo
Ulster Champions = Tyrone
Leinster Champions = Dublin
Munster Champions = Kerry

All Ireland Winners = Mayo

Good stuff. RTE are starting their coverage this week with Longford-Westmeath. Tommy Lyons has been in the media saying they should have launched the live coverage with a bang by bringing forward Mayo-Galway by a week or Armagh-Donegal by 2 weeks. I kind of take his point but equally it’s good to see some of the lesser teams get covered.

My own predictions:

Connacht: Mayo
Leinster: Wexford
Munster: Kerry
Ulster: Armagh

All Ireland: Armagh

I’ll go:

Leinster Dublin
Munster Kerry
Ulster Armagh
Connacht Mayo

All Ireland Armagh

and your predictions are FoR ??

What’s raven’s beef? That fingal aren’t facilitated? That the All Ireland uses teams organised on the county basis as introduced by our conquerers?

I say the best bet is to support your nearest team, raven. Possibly Meath.

Don’t take the bait Farmer !!!

What’s Leitrim’s draw, db?

Winners of Galway-Mayo afaik, yeah?

London on the 27th May Bandage and if they come through that, it will be the winners of Galway/Mayo. Realistically would need Galway to beat Mayo as then we would be at home to Galway whereas it would be Castlebar if Mayo beat the Tribesmen

Munster - Kerry
Ulster - Donegal
Leinster - Laois
Connacht - Galway

All-Ireland - Mayo

i will be happy if they beat London FoR - it won’t be easy in Ruislip. Barely beat them in the league (level going into injury time).

not going to take the bait re : being pathetic compared to fermanagh and the likes (whoever the likes are)

If someone can get onto Paddypower.com can they post up the match and handicap odds for Longford vs Westmeath and Cavan vs Down. Thanking you in advance

Match Odds: (Can’t find handicap betting yet)

6/4 Longford 13/2 Draw 8/11 Westmeath
8/13 Cavan 13/2 Draw 7/4 Down

Cheers Rock - Longford crtainly look appealing at 6/4

Here’s the handicaps

Handicap -1

Longford 1/1
|Handicap Draw| 7/1
Westmeath 1/1

Handicap -2

Cavan 6/5
|Handicap Draw| 7/1
Down 5/6

Down with the handicap and Longford outright i reckon

well i would give Longford a big chance on the basis that the game is in Pearse Park where they pushed the Dubs very close last year. Also they must have very good young players if they can afford to leave David Barden and Paraic Davis on the bench. Barden was immense against Dublin last year. In a tight game, these 2 lads coming off the bench might just swing it for longford.

the Cavan - Down game is tough to call. They met at the same stage last year and Down won by 5 or 6 points. Cavan had a good league run this year but I think the difference between the 2 teams will be Benny Coulter - a class act on his day. I would be tempted to back Down outright at the prices but it looks like it will be very close.

Also the Connacht Championship gets under way and I was tempted by the 9 point start Boylesports are giving New York against Sligo at 10/11. 9 points is a lot in Gaelic Football and last year with 10 minutes to go, Rosscummon were only a point ahead of New York but fitness told and the Rossies went on to win by 7. New York’s team changes from year to year and I haven’t a clue what they are like this year. It’s betting blind but I think a 9 point lead will definitely give you a run for your money.

Anyway its just great to have the Summer of Sundays back again. Enjoy

My predictions:

Connacht: Mayo
Leinster: Laois
Munster: Kerry
Ulster: Donegal

All Ireland: Kerry

Raven - you’re not worth it

Surprised to see Ireland’s premier sporting website doesn’t have a preview of the upcoming AI football championship on it’s front page??? Or maybe I’ve missed it…

Haven’t really been following the football season very closely thus far but I don’t think it’ll be one of the big 3 come September. This year is the perfect opportunity for the likes of Mayo or Donegal to make the breakthrough.

Connacht: Mayo
Leinster: Dublin
Munster: Cork
Ulster: Donegal

AI: Donegal

Think raven said he wanted to do a preview so waiting for him to send it in.

If he hasn’t fired it over to me by tomorrow then I’ll do one over the weekend.

Watching Longford and Westmeath here. Entertaining enough. Marty and Martin just commented beautiful structure of Pearse Park where the stand goes around the whole pitch. Good call - its not like any other GAA park where they have a stand on one side only and it doesnt even go the full length of the pitch.

Brolly is some fucking dope. He said that the standard of football in Leinster is poor as their champions have been hammered when they come up against the big guns in the latter stages of the competition. He cited the 2005 REPLAY against Tyrone as an example eventhough Dublin should have won the first game and the second game wasn’t a hammering. Dublin lost by a :drink: to Mayo last year but I supoose they’re not big guns Joe. Funny I didn’t see any Ulster teams in the semis last year

What a tosser he is. I really hate the sweaty little prick
