Waterford Championship wins were scarce back then. Between 1983 and 1998, think it was just two, both replayed wins - one over Cork in 1989 semi final and Clare in 1992 quarter final.

I think I was at this game…played in thurles,.a pissy wet day .i was about 12…waterford had a lad playing centre forward called ‘the turk’ …Christ he done some timbering…a thing of beauty… albeit a savage beauty…
