As you said, Cork go short or make darting runs to half way line /65 where Nash picks them out, they donāt really bomb ball down on top if their attackersā¦ Tipp forced them to and they were destroyedā¦ They used Aidan Walsh to combat this v Limerickā¦ KK will have to do something similar and force Cork ling from puckouts and open play.
When I say Limericklite I meant more in terms of defense. Kilkenny started dropping forwards back towards the end of games around 2014 and itās something Limerick have adopted. Kilkenny also much prefer to defend long balls similar to limerick. Corks short passing game upsets them. Attacking wise Iād agree Limerick are more sophisticated on the ball alright but Kilkenny donāt have the players of the caliber of Cian Lynch and Hannon to receive and distribute.
I also fancy Cork to win. They have superior forwards, they have a style of play that could cause Kilkenny real problems if they hit full flow.
But I was talking about Kilkennyās best chance of winning is to seriously disrupt Corkās puckouts. Choke the space as much as possible to stop Nash hitting the likes of Kearney, Meade, Fitzgibbon & Lehane running into space.
Itās still mental to read this as a Limerick fan.
Kilkenny donāt have the caliber of players Limerick haveā¦

Mwt lineti k lads this evening who said the ai is a certainty. All other teams are shite, and theyād won at lest treee in a row.
You might translate that for us in the mornin Flatty.
Gotcha
Canāt disagree with any of that
Tomorrow will be interesting. Tactically KK should suit Cork, assuming Cody plays his usual defensive shite with the half-forwards playing back - no doubt Cork expect that, otherwise Walsh or an equivalent starts in case we need to go route 1 like against Limerick.
Benches generally are pretty equal - KK have Walsh and Blanchfield, who could easily dominate against a tired and not fantastic in the air Cork defense. Moreover there is no better team to finish the smallest of goal opportunities, and there are definitely goals to be got against this Cork defence.
In saying that, a man marking job will suit the likes of Cadogan and McDonnell while there doesnāt look like there is any need to āhideā Coleman against that KK half-forward line.
I donāt get the logic of Lehane at 11 other than more pace to run at the KK team. He certainly isnāt deserving of a start ahead of OāMahony, Walsh and a couple of others. Hopefully there is some plan there, Iād imagine weāll see him very deep for puck-outs, rotating with Meade/Kearney.
TBH its a big day for a number of those Cork hurlers, many who have flattered to deceive in big games. Iām half expecting a big performance - certainly itāll be the end of Meyler if we donāt win, even though I think in general he has done a good job and improved our lot as best as he could.
Who Bud?
Itās the worst Kilkenny team in history ā¦ Anything other than a dominant Cork win should be a worry.
Probably the worse since the mid nineties but they will still take baytin
Cork by 4
Have you seen Kilkenny playing for the last 4 years? These current lads donāt know where the net is and without scoring 3 tomorrow weāll be bet.
Walsh hasnāt played much hurling in last few weeks. Surprised he was named on bench
Kilkenny team is a bit all over the place lately. Starting to feel more sure that Cork will win
It saddens me to say it but Tipperary will win doing handstands tomorrow.
Laois beat Dublin, a weakened, complacent and careless Dublin. Tipperary will be forewarned.
Eddieās managerial genius is yet to be proven.
Eddie has done a great job regardless of what happens. He has forged a team with spirit and fight who pull together, and that is all a manager can do. Great appointment for Laois.
