All Ireland Hurling Final 2018

Babs fairly sowed it into MicheƔl and the Galway boys today. An article 30 years in the making no doubt

@Aristotle trying to outdo @Mac here

Its a players responsibility to declare them selves unfit.

Donoghue is blameless.

Someone has to lose it. Donā€™t be quick to be scapegoating

Fair points. In my (hindsight) opinion the biggest mistake was not starting the same formation as the Clare replay. With the injuries, Cooney was definitely needed in the HB line and Mannion would have been better utilized as sweeper. Whelan at 11 would have posed a completely different challenge for Hannon and was wasted out on the wing with no decent ball going in. We lined out too predictably, needed a few changes and maybe even a surprise in the lineup.

Owens let an awful lot of fouling go, I felt we should have been much more aggressive in our fouling and make it more of a dogfight. Two of the Limerick goals came from clear fouls, we werenā€™t nearly as aggressive in our response.

We needed a lot to go right yesterday. Our short puckouts which Hanbury and Tuohy would inevitably waste were responsible for a few Limerick scores. Thatā€™s a lesson management and players didnā€™t learn from in Thurles. The accuracy of 2017 has been lacking bigtime.

That said Iā€™d have huge confidence in the lads to win it next year. Hope they get more than a respectable turnout in Salthill and Ballinasloe for a very good year.

That would be Cork. They blew it you feel.

Something amiss with Galway yesterday. They were supposed to be first out on the field. They came out of the dressing room but dallied and went back in. Limerick subsequently came out.
Something wasnā€™t right

Thatā€™s a fairly moronic thing to say

I thought Canning was exceptional yesterday when needed most. He didnā€™t do much in lead up to the game apparently and also notably had a knee strapped. He knocked over 3 brilliant points from play when need was greatest in 2nd half. He wasnā€™t getting much by way of support either. His goal was unstoppable and one of the best strikes ever seen in Croke Park. He also nailed frees from every angle. He was also brilliant against Kilkenny and dragged Galway to All Ireland final when they looked in serious trouble vs Clare. He is a superstar. Only a fucking eejit would say other wise.

Heā€™s been carrying them in this fashion for most of his of his career in truth. Thank fuck he had a bit of support and got his medal last year

It was like the Red Wedding.

@buffegan had no ticket :smile:

If the Galway lads hadnt celebrated last years win well into March they might have actually turned up to be trained in the off season leading to better physical condition yesterday. Thankfull6 they gave it socks in the pubs of Galway just as I expect Limerick to drink themselves out of contention for 2019

there was a evil part of me that wanted Limerick to loose yesterday after Canning stuck the free, I punched the air in Ganleys and let out a roar, the place was going bananas, it was a bit weird

Yes, Lynch. watching it back now, it was on 29 minutes, a beautiful pass.

It would have been a grave injustice had he not won one. He might get another yet as his form this year was even better last year. If he was born in Kilkenny and had the likes of Tommy Walsh, JJ Delaney around him heā€™d be in the conversation as greatest of all time. He might still be yet. There isnā€™t a player in the game that Iā€™ve seen that can seemingly find a way to score goals and points in so many different ways. Be they side line cuts on the 65 or like the goal against Kilkenny in Leinster final a few years ago where all in one movement caught the ball over his head turned and buried it. His goal from the 21 yesterday was unique insofar as in years gone by players would have been on 13 yard line before ball was struck. You just knew he was going to go for goal, that he would score and that it would be emphatic but it was even more than that. In terms of bottle, he saves his best for the real pressure situations and that is the definition of greatness. Just like against us last year in semi final when he got a handpass from Johnny Coen and broke our hearts, or against Kilkenny in 12 All Ireland with a free on an angle with last puck of the game with thousands of amateur whistlers, Brian Cody feet away and half the Kilkenny rearguard with hurleys waving in the air, and yesterday he made a game of it singlehandedly.

Joe has been even better this year than he was last year when he was a thoroughly deserved Hurler of the Year. By rights Joe is Hurler of the Year this year as well. In modern times though if it goes to a non All Ireland winning player, itā€™s usually only to Waterford.
