Surprised that hasnāt been rowed back yet. Seems counter productive
James Owens was irking me in the first half yesterday. Standing on the pitch during play a lot to get a better view even when the ball was close & he was potentially impeding players. He was also in to monitor Byrnesā placement of the ball for 65s in an ott way & was then acting the nuisance when Limerick were trying to take that quick lineball where they were punished at the second attempt for the receiver being too close. I donāt know why Owens was intent on stopping the first quickly taken one. Just keep out of the way & let them play.
Shane Barrett could do serious damage on John Conlon - way too much pace
Clare could do with extra pace at midfield too - Fitzgerald and Malone almost too similar and wont have the legs for Fitzgibbon. A case to start Taylor?
Malone and Kelly
Kelly & Malone was the midfield the last day, but I think they might bring in Taylor and push Kelly on to 11.
I think cork have way too much pace and power for cork.
Clareās team is odd. Itās the 2013 lads along with some very good younger lads but nobody real in their peak years.
Cork have 5 or 6 extremely good young players along with 5 or 6 lads at their peak.
Clare didnāt lay a glove on Limerick in the Munster final either.
I think the margin of victory will be between 10-15 points.
have any of them the legs to track Fitzgibbon?
Iām not sure anybody does.
It is similar to 18. An ageing Galway team v a young Limerick side.
Trajectories going in two different directions imo.
Fitzgerald would have the legs for Fitzgibbon, but whether the inclination or application required is there is another thing
Taking off who? Fitzgerald? Mccarthy?
Taking off who? Fitzgerald? Mccarthy?
They need McCarthy for frees surely.
I also and I take no pleasure in saying this but McCarthyās frees have the potential to go horribly wrong one day. He hits the ball so oddly.
The biggest issue for clare is stopping Barrett. Heās an absolute force of nature.
surely holy moses Marty cant commentate on the final?
I was at Kilkenny v Clare - was Marty commentating? I ve no doubt he yet again referenced Conor Cleary the man who plays football for Miltown Malbay and his hurling with Kilmayley for the 435th time
Hopefully Dara Moloney gets it. He is the pick of them
He was
What referee will get the final I wonder? What top Limerick and Kilkenny referees are there that have been waiting in the wings?
Who was the last Kilkenny man to referee a final? Paschal Long in 1984?
My mother still remarks from time to time about the job Paddy Johnson did on the 76 final.
If it was me, Iād take Fitzgerald. Think heād be a good impact sub in a broken game.
Iād worry Lohan might go for Reidy though.
Obviously, he might just hold Taylor in reserve but he looked so sharp, I think he turned the game.
Who was the last Kilkenny man to referee a final? Paschal Long in 1984
I think you could be right. A Carrickshock man.
Tbf if Kelly was playing midfield, do Cork have someone able to track him either?
Tim played there the last day and I donāt see him going with him. I suppose they could swap himself & Joyce.
Iād be more worried about Barrett too if I was Clare because you donāt want to disrupt your whole system for one player but Barrett vs Conlon could be a mismatch if there are spaces to run into.
Clare did move Conlon to RHB against Limerick in the Munster Final to get Ryan to match-up with CON. And he did that job, I guess, but I donāt think Ryan is a particular brilliant defender, his best attributes are driving forward.
He would not
watched cork v limerick again there now. Am I seeing things or did I really see Jamesie OConnor on the pitch shaking hands with Hoggy after the final whistle?
Pretty sure I saw thought too. Was Jamesie working for BBC? He had a studio-type outfit on
